Horvat isn't what you think he is. He's having a career year and yes he's a great player but he hasn't hit 60 points in the past 5 years. Should hit it this year well enough. He would also be a pure rental for the leafs.
As I said, Dubas can get someone else. He's the best possible forward in YOUR eyes that YOU know of. Dubas knows of others who might be available.
What inexperience? Reilly, Gio, Brodie, Benn all have longevity in the league with the latter three having some deeper playoff experience. The b line isn't full of kids but to each their own. - Aaron_85
There's nobody else out there unless it's a Soo Greyhound.
Rielly is defensively weak, he's been especially weak this year. Benn is trash. Gio and Brodie have no playoff success even when they weren't past their prime in Calgary. And Sandin and Liljegren are far from playoff tested. The blueline is still a liability. That's why having a strong defensive C like Horvat would have helped take the pressure off the D. |

Didn't see a real fit as others have already covered there. I can see it backfiring huge on senile old Uncle Lou. That is a coming tire fire/rebuild given the ages of the bulk of the team there. Horvat will want to win, not sign on for money to wind up losing a lot. He just left that.
For me Leafs need the winger and maybe a solid deterrent physical player who can chip in to keep Simmonds out of the damn lineup!
For me a 6'4 204lb winger wouldn't be bad and there is one down the trans canada highway that couldn't be anything but an improvement on Simmonds. - Roadrunner75
Pretty much sums it up for most of us here.
Was never high on Horvat. |

We’ve got two pretty good Cs. We need wingers. I was hoping for someone from Guelph - Canada Cup
Naw man, I can't skate.
Bertuzzi would be OK though if we knew he was healthy. He has killed me in my pool this year. |

Yeah, this seems like a Boston move or someone who has a legit shot at something more than maybe, maybe crawling into the playoffs. The Islanders are not very good. They’re the oldest team in the league and traded away a pick, a 20 year old and a 25 year old. They need to rebuild, not go for it |

They have the best goalie in the league this season (or one of..not the point), so I guess I get trying to sneak in and maybe you can go on a run with a hot G.
esp if I was the GM and 80 years old |

Beuvilliler is a cap dump, he has negative value.
Kerfoot could get a Jarnkrok 2022 TDL return right now. - Santo_44
Negative value?
Hes a 25 year old who's scored at a 0.50ppg pace the past two years and is having a slightly down year.
Ya hes a little overpaid in opinion, but he doesnt have negative value. |

id say he doesnt have a lot of value, and the Islanders were smart to move him in this deal.
a 35 point player making 4 mil..is the exact thing Van covets...pretty meh, middle player..paid decent..not exactly worth it

If he gets back to a .50ppg he'll be worth a decent pick or two for Vancouver in the future. |

I don’t think the objective is to move Kerfoot but Kerfoot can be moved if it makes bringing someone better in possible. He’s a UFA making pretty big coin and his versatility can now be matched by Jarnkrok. |

True.
Having two of these guys for the playoffs would be a bonus for the leafs. |

I saw a stat that the went from a 14% probability to 19%.
I guess they could use him for a playoff push but if it’s not working they can still flip him at the deadline. |

They're going to sign him and (frank) themselves for the forseeable future. Lou is senile. |
