Why do u think teams find ROR to be a more attractive acquisition? He's out for 5-6 weeks with a broken foot and he hasn't played very well this season. And he isn't exactly a gazelle on skates out there. So there is uncertainty with him too.

But both players really boost a contender because they know how to win.

O'Reilly has no trade protection so he can be dealt anywhere. Toews can choose and he surely would only want to go somewhere he can win. I'd love to see him go to Tampa or Boston so he can put the screws to the Maple Leafs. Or Colorado because I'd like to see him win another Cup and ride off into retirement a winner.

I also think toews would absolutely flourish in a new setting, a chance to win, and being slotted say as a 2C or even a 3C....He seems to be more transparent about envisioning himself in another sweater vs Kane who seems to be more guarded about what hes thinking.

I also think back to even in the glory years Team Canada always had him in that 3C role where he dominated.

I'm fairly confident that his days in Chicago are nearing an end and he will waive the NMC for the right team. He has a certain non hockey social engagement on his calendar in February in Chicago and I interpret it as a fairwell thing. But I don't know anything definite as it relates to a hockey trade.

I would agree....I think he's 90% gone.

I still think Kane is 50/50 and even if he does waive, I am not certain he wouldn't be open to returning here on a 2-3 year with whatever young kid draft and guide them. Having been a former 1st overall pick, and leading a revival, his experience is invaluable for said player to learn from and grow.

hawks 4 realistic home games left before the deadline. Out of the break vs Arizona and Anaheim and then mid February vs Vegas and Toronto. Can't see either playing, if they are still here, vs dallas (3/2) unless either and/or both agreed to NOT waive

Look for something with #19 only after the Toronto game, not before.

Man what GM is going to make an ass out of himself in the next month? Hopefully said GM overpays for any Hawks asset.

Good article on faceoff by Frank S breaking down Kane trade targets and possible returns.

Hopefully not KD.

You think so? He's cheaper for sure but Toews skates faster and is performing better on the ice statistically almost in every catagory compared to ROR. And you can't tell me Toews has better linemates.
- BetweenTheDots

I would think for certain teams, Domi is a better fit than O’Reilly or Toews, and could bring back as good a return. He can also play wing, which would basically be a new position for Toews and ROR. Toronto, Dallas, Minnesota are all cash strapped teams that could use help in the top 6.

I did the Tankathon simulator 10 times:

Pick #1 - 2
Pick #2 - 0
Pick #3 - 5
Pick #4 - 3

Chances are the Hawks are picking 3rd or later.

Fourth it is! Remember, if the Oilers miss the playoffs, 40% chance they pick first.

If Kane didn’t have Bowman PTSD of every ‘kid to shepherd along’ being traded away I’d believe it. Teuvo, Danault, Jokiharju, Debrincat, Boqvist, Dach all part of the next wave. All traded away.

I have no inklings that Davidson will do that. But I’m also not rushing out to grab a Reichel or Korchinski jersey after the last decade of this franchise.

If Edmonton misses the playoffs there’s a 100% chance they’ll draft first.

I don’t see the Hawks taking Michkov in the top 4. KD won’t take that much risk.

There was an acknowledgement and moment of silence for #9 tonight in Montreal prior to puck drop.

A brief show of respect for a hockey player they knew from 5 decades earlier.

And leave Judgement Day to his Maker not a bunch of press rags.

That's too bad.

I hope his corpse gets repeatedly sodomized by black people and Jews while a woman punches him in the face

Per Friedman's 32 thoughts:

16. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews get all the love — for obvious reasons — but the most popular Blackhawk might be Sam Lafferty. Signed for another year at $1.15M, plays hard, would fit in a depth role with a good team. Chicago’s also fielded calls on many of their defenders.

Considering how many guys they have on really favorable contracts, it would not surprise me to see interest in a good portion of the team. Murphy, McCabe, J. Johnson (although I doubt it), Domi, AA, D!ckinson, Raddysh all could have some value to teams. Add to that the glut of minor league D-men they have (both in the AHL and coming up) and they have a lot of pieces to make deals and make things work.

I think even if there is interest, T. Johnson stays. For the salary floor alone, but LR seems to really like his game and I think that he would want him around the younger players.

just had a look and unreal the Hawks will have 26 million in cap space at the trade deadline. hopefully KD can use that to his advantage and gain some nice assets to speed up the rebuild. i had a look at this summers UFA's and there are some nice players that we could help build around. Larkin is still only 27 be a nice piece.

Watched Ottawa vs Montreal. Montreal has four rookies playing D right now. Why the Hawks aren't doing that is puzzling. Gotta get those minutes to Caleb Jones, Jack Johnson, and Connor Murphy I guess.
