Bobby Hull probably going to maintain that #1 spot in Blackhawks goals for the rest of our lifetimes.

Is there a chance his funeral visitation will be at the UC?

so from my side photo, Pierre Pilote, Eric Nesterenko, Ron Murphy, and Moose Vasko all are gone along with Stan and Bobby now....

We should be so lucky.

All Bobby Hull ever wanted to be was ... Bobby Hull.

The opportunity to continue to be in the hockey legends light rally was what he wanted ...to continue to be Bobby Hull.

Did he want to be ALL parts of Bobby Hull, or just the parts where he was adored and fawned over like a teen idol? I mean, who wouldn't want the former?

May he RIP.

Bobby played well before the NHL enforced hanging nets behind the goalies and above the glass. When Bobby did his end to end and wind up for his slap shot everyone behind the goalie and under the press box at the old Chicago Stadium would hold their breath. His shot hit a lot of fans sitting there back in the day.

That would be nice, i imagine if we retained half his salary that would give us a 1st round pick

While I’d never say never, a first round pick in a stacked draft like this year is unlikely. There’s speculation Toews may not be able to bring back a first, how on earth would a McCabe trade ever get one? I’d be happy if the Hawks can get a third for him.

Cost certainty, McCabe at $2 million per for the next 2.5 seasons

He’s a third pairing defenseman who isn’t very mobile, cost certainty doesn’t make him a better defenseman. That said if KD is able to sucker another GM to give him a first, I’d be happy. But I’m not going to hold my breath.

Neither am i, but the beauty of it is KD can walk away from the table and just hang on to McCabe.

I imagine the cost certainty is very attractive to teams. It was for Hagel a supposed 3rd line player who provided us with 2 firsts

He was a childhood hero of mine but as many heroes in our young lives we're often disappointed, It's a shame his boozing and his practice of domestic violence tarnished his legacy beyond repair as far as I'm concerned.

Looking for exemplary human beings in the sports, entertainment and political worlds is a tough search. For the most part they are mercenaries with short shelf lives. There is a large market for what they do when they are great and then poof they are yesterday's news.

Bobby was a great hockey player and one helluva salesman. His private life was likely nothing to be proud of or excusable, but he ain't the only one.

Hagel was a 22 year old on a 30 goal pace. You were always going to get a bit of a haul for him.

There's quite a bit of space between what Bobby Hull did (not just once, BTW, lots of times) and "exemplary human being".

Maybe Stan will have a job by the deadline and happily take on the contracts of McCabe and Murphy, because nothing in the league is more valuable than cost certainty. Everyone knows Saad and Murphy> Panarin and Hjalmarsson.

Hahaha

Considering the NHL is in such a poor state it really handcuffs these teams pressed against the cap

The Bally’s fiasco is gaining some traction in the news. If they go belly up or miss interest payments beyond this one it’ll likely be rough for the NHL salary cap. Compound this issue with fans in many markets not being able to watch their team unless they go with a specific traditional cable provider… not you got yourself a stew going. I use YouTube TV and can’t get NHL network to save my life. By the time the lottery that determines our happiness for the next decade hits, I’ll be groveling for anyone’s Comcast login to watch some ping pong balls bounce around.

No kidding, I sat below the press box under the b off the blackhawks standby banner. Unfortunately had a better view of the Lemaitr slap shot than Tony O did in that 7th game.

Never suggested you erred.
He was what he was, a prominent star athlete who earned a bad off the field reputation based on some (or many) ugly things he did. No different from Jim Brown, Denny McClain, Michael Vick, Harvey Weinstein, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Spacey, OJ, etc.

Agree that there are plenty of bad people in sports. However, the vast majority of athletes would not do what he was alleged to have done many times.

Met him in Addison a few years back. He lived there in the 60s and they named the street after him.
Sign autographs for hours at local bar and told a bunch of stories. He remembered the photo shoot of the hockey card I had him sign. Definitely gracious with his time

I don't disagree with that.

But setting aside all of that, he is still one of my 3 favorite NHL players of all time. I will let others pass judgement on him as a human being, I'm not worthy.

Dots, I respect your opinion. We all would agree to retain 1/2 his salary and trade him for a 1st round pick. Would you do the same for a 2nd. Would you take a 3rd with no salary retained. a 4th?
