Amazing and you picked an avatar for a guy who was charged of statutory rape, arrested numerous times for assault including beating his neighbor almost to death....

well done. Glad you are here to pass judgement. Tell OJ to stop by next.

My two cents. I think it is likely that teams have been calling KD about Toews and Kane and asking about their price if they waive. Maybe counteroffers have been discussed so frameworks of deal(s) may be in place.

When the big pow wow takes place, KD can tell them teams W, X, Y and Z have showed interest. Of course 19 and 88 can say we're not waiving and that's the end of the discussion. If they waive and name some preferred destinations, say teams A, B , Y and Z, Davidson can either fall back on those earlier preliminary discussions or call teams A and B that didn't show interest before.

Really good post, BM. I think it's safe to say that KD has made and taken calls to set up a loose framework for a deal with Kaner for sure and probably Johnny too.

Maybe too early to say but it seems KD is at least a decent poker player who's not afraid of big moves as draft day showed us and the league.

Agreed...if he can move Dach and DeBrincat, he showed he isn't afraid of moving anyone.

I saw about two shifts of Korchinski in the preseason before making up my mind that he’s a great skater. Even compared to NHL talent he has wheels. The Jones brothers are both graceful skaters, but aren’t as fast as this kid. I’m also trying to not get too hyped up on these kids, but Korchinski is one where we can show a tiny glimmer of hope, just as a treat. Nazar saw how interested we were in him and decided to hire Kathy Bates from Misery to hobble himself.

Indeed. Skating jumped right out, next for me was his head was up followed by showing nice poise for his first NHL camp. ....... KK has the tools that make for a really high ceiling.

Can't wait to see the kid, Allan and Dach too, in the CHL playoffs. After that NHL camp then the chatter of should he play NHL or CHL next yr.

And add to this, and of course we can't know for sure, the trades he didn't make which shows he's not gonna get cornered or make trades just to make them. .. With a total tear down you'd imagine he'd have had some offers, probably low balls, that he turned down.

This TDL, draft and offseason we'll see a good bit of how KD and staff operate but as far as I'm concerned his MO has been encouraging. ..... Wheeler at The Athletic is doing his organIzational prospect rankings and he's down to #9 and the Hawks aren't listed yet. So in a yr KD has been a big part of taking a prospect pool from one of the worst to one of the best. And in the next two yrs he has at least 2 picks in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rds. That's good..............

Are you guys all forgetting about big Ethan del Mastro, (6'4 - 215) from little Freelton, Ontario? Very impressive to me at the World Juniors logging big minutes, more so than Nolan Allan.

Might be the steal of that draft for the Hawks, I see him patrolling their blue line in 3 years.

Yes Del Mastro looked good and was used in important situations like he was with Mississauga and I presume now with Sarnia. Lots of potential on defense for the future. I like how you’re talking a few years and not as soon as possible. Hopefully the Hawks are done bringing guys up who obviously aren’t ready for NHL duty.

Hell no, I haven't forgotten Del Mastro. I like to look at where a kid came from as much as where he is, to me that says much. Willing to work to develop.

Del Mastro goes to CAN WJC camp last yr as a 19 yr old, gets cut, called back up within a day or two of opening night due to injury, plays his way up to the top pairing, settles on the 2nd pairing, is the Dman out on a 5 on 3, shows a physical heady 200 ft game.

This yr wears a letter for Team CAN that wins the Gold skating big minutes vs the opposition's best. ..... To me this kid is the closet comp for Seabs in the system. Good size, 40 point offensive upside, shutdown abilities with a physical side to his game.

The kid did not play his draft yr due to Covid shutting the league down. Otherwise no way he slips to rd 5.......... Looks every bit a top 4 NHL Dman.

That was coincidental, thanks for posting it.

I don't know who/what the Hawks have for D coaches down in Rockford, but with all those young kids in the system hope its somebody good who relates well to the boys and with Coach Luke.

Kane 50% retained for 2023 1st 2023 3rd and brisson. Thoughts? Or to Buffalo along with conner Murphy they have the cap space and assets to do a deal.

I am gonna predict that the Blackhawks are Scott Wheelers #8 tomorrow on the Athletic.

And how to you rank Frankie Nazar as a prospect after they won't even tell us anything about the injury....

All we know is he arrived their at college he was already injured.

So, was his injury there at the draft, and teams maybe backed off choosing him? maybe a lucky break for hawks?

- wiz1901

I'll go with Anaheim at #8.

Have to wait at least another day before the Hawks make an appearance. I think they were somewhere in the mid-20's when Wheeler did this exercise last year.

With all of the talk about Kane and/or Toews going to a contender, I had a thought. Neither has been in a "meaningful" hockey game in about five years now. I wonder if they'll be able to ramp it back up if put back in that situation. They've done almost nothing other than try to explain why they didn't win after every game for so long. I'm sure they are still both competitors, but especially going into a new team (and presumably not being "the" guy) that's got to be quite the adjustment.

If the braintrust in Vancouver are peddling Thatcher Demko the Blackhawks (and LA Kings) should see if the price is not too dear.

I don't care about the past; or even my formed opinion on him. If you can get an NHL experienced goalie cheap you might get lucky and then your broadcast team will lessen up their hold on Comesso and Soldeholm's nuts...

- wiz1901

Dealing Demko now would be the very definition of selling low. He was having a poor season before his major injury. That said, I expect the Canucks to deal him but I wouldn’t expect KD to be interested.

They don't have to be the guy verbally however they are the guys with a ton of play off experience, there's no substitute for that. When things get tough if either one of them speak up in the locker room or is asked to say something they will be heard.

I figured it was, it'd be nice if we did have more hits lately, gotta figure the odds are in our favor considering how many misses Bowman had over the years for dmen

Sorry for passing judgement on your hero. Let’s continue ignoring the fact that he almost killed his wife, and write another article about how hard his slap shot was!

Dots, I’ll have to agree with you, money talks. The NHL needs the big market teams to be at the very least competitive, and ideally contenders.

If you’d have bothered to read back, all his good points along with his not so good have been discussed. Most posters agree he was a very good hockey player but not so great a human. So that brings up the fact why you canonize a guy who was just as bad a human?

Keep praising him, man. He’s so good at hockey! Who cares if he beat the crap out of his wives.
