Hall of gamer Giacomin was so afraid of facing Bobby, that they used to always start Villemute against the Hawks.

really? - jimbro83
Jimbro, I guess you weren't there versus North Stars when Bobby caught Gump Worsley in the temple of his non masked head and knocked him out cold.
The goalies were wanting legislation on the curved stick... |

Thought the same.....have to think it's the Rangers or bust. Maybe the Devils?
To Paul's earlier posts...read the same about returns for Toews....so unless Davidson finds a sucker, and god knows these GMs lose their damn minds over D men at the deadline (remember what the Hawks gave up for the corpse of Timmonen?)...can't see it being more than a 3rd. - SteveRain
Whatever the return for Kane and Toews, the bigger benefit may be weakening the team to possibly sink them to the bottom of the standings to give them the best chance in the lottery, assuming of course PE is wrong and the lottery is above board. |

Goalies are crazy but in the pre mask years they were insane! |

Remember a guy named Antoine Vermette and what the acquiring team paid for him in trade?
Toews can still easily do what Vermette did in a playoff run. Somebody will pay for his services if he chooses to go, I'm just not convinced he wants go anywhere. |

There wasn’t much net front presence back in the day either. |

And for the most part goalies stayed on their feet … but still playing a position where guys are shooting a hard rubber disk AT YOU without a mask is pure insanity. |

I just hope there are no hard feelings and both re-sign a one day contract to retire as Blackhawks. - paulr
I don't think there will be.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Kane resign here this summer. Especially if they land Bedard. call me crazy.....it's been a few months....... |

At least Bobby had an idea where his shot was going, but Dennis when he first came up had no clue, and he shot it just as hard.
I remember a game, Charlie Hodge was in net for the Canadiens and Bobby let one fly, and shattered the glass. Hodge didn’t move a muscle until the glass broke. |

No doubt Toews can help a team with his experience, defense, face off ability and he can still score a few goals. No idea if they’d be interested but Boston may be a good fit. |

I agree....I am not sure either wants to go to be honest. I think at best it's 50-50 right now. Getting down to the final minutes and davidson has what? 33 days including today to set the market, and start working with teams they WOULD go to?
If they don't go, that's their right....but man....full NMCs to guys in their mid 30s after max deals is rough....I get it earlier on but this could be a massive learning curve for a lot GMs who don't want to go stuck holding the bag. Revisionist history is always at play. |

Yeah, I think the both boys will look at it and see if they feel it is worth the time, fit, and possible long post season and the return will be something that JD may try and work as a wedge if there are two possible teams for each are amicable to join.
If not, he will take what he takes, and maybe he waits until close to the trade deadline, playing chicken with the team seeing it as a strong boost to their chances.
If the hawks have laid out their future offers to re-up on their team in transition, and the 2 players are not interested, it may be they just have to sit and wait even if the want to go...
So what if Kaner and Taser have bad feelings towards Davidson?

Horvat to Isles for Beauvillier, Raty and a 2023 1st - ikeane
Wonder if the GMs start to go into panic mode after that move? |

I'd say Boston probably has big interest in Toews and so would Carolina and Colorado and Winnipeg. And why not the Maple Loafs or Oilers or Seattle?
The guy can still give a team a solid 15 minutes a night and who knows what offence if he is flanked by 2 NHL wingers instead of what he's dealing with now. |

Whatever Hull’s personal failings, every NHL player since should be worshipping him. Hull signing with the WHA is just as important as Curt Flood challenging the reserve clause. - LAHawk
Absolutely, He made the boys a boatload.
Giacomin would see Bobby wind up and sometimes just skate right out of the net. But more so when Dennis would wind up. Back in the day the rule of thumb was buzz the tower in the 1st period and shoot low after that. Being a goal judge when the Hull boys were shooting was a real treat.

Horvat goes to a 'pretend' contender, so that removes him as a possibility for all the real Cup contenders. It also establshes that Ryan O'Reilly is worth at least a #1 pick plus top prospect at least. And what would Yzerman demand for Dylan Larkin if he pushed him out the door?
So who's left as an available big time profile center? Seems to me #19 is moving right up everybody's list. |

Did either Hull shatter a glass in the goal judge cage? I don’t ever remember that happening.

JFC I’d be heartbroken if he or Kane winds up in Toronto. - paulr
You haven't heard the latest?- the Leafs are definitely acquiring Toews, Kane, Chykrun, O'Reilly, Tarasenko and the best goaltender available. Bettman is waiving the salary cap for them only.
You need to stay current with Maple Leaf news man. |

I did read that the Leafs could do a Kucherov with Matthews. |

And of course they be trading away useless roster players low end prospects and third and seventh round draft picks. |

Maple Leaf fans become delirious and delusional every late January - they realize the annual agony of defeat is just weeks away and coincides with early April baseball. |

I suspect the Twins know that KD is moving on, and their only choice is whether to leave now or in the summer. Assuming they want to keep playing, maybe their best bet is to play for a contender down the stretch and should they still have some juice. |
