Good to hear positive news about Sam Rinzel, before the pay wall blocked mentioned his skating is world class? - BetweenTheDots
im excited to see what he can do next year against tougher competition. |

What did SB have to do with trading DeBrincat? Joki and Boqvist suck. - rpeters01
Jokiharju is an everyday defenseman on a good Buffalo team. Boqvist’s 0.5 points per game would be second among hawks D. He’s also 22 years old, younger than Galvas, Roos, and Mitchell. |

If the braintrust in Vancouver are peddling Thatcher Demko the Blackhawks (and LA Kings) should see if the price is not too dear.
I don't care about the past; or even my formed opinion on him. If you can get an NHL experienced goalie cheap you might get lucky and then your broadcast team will lessen up their hold on Comesso and Soldeholm's nuts... |

To me all this guys NEVER reach potential, unworthy of revised trade thinking; insignificant over the wide long term NHL canvass.

The feet have been there at humungeous body size....but....you need the head to sync with this feet and growth mens he enters as an attacker too.
I hope they were correct but I would have taken the World Junior centre forward who bawled after he was part of the guffaw that lead to Canada's victory, Buffalo's Jiri Kulich

Again, Cat was traded by KD, and none of the rest of them moves the needle at all.

I am very curious to see, i know the chances of him and Korchinski being excellent 2 way dmen is slim? But it's nice to dream
It'll also be nice if we had actual dmen who can outskate over half the forwards in the league |

Pittsburgh and Washington are two of those bubble teams that likely are looking. Hextall/Burke might like a McCabe if we can make the cap work.
Washington is falling apart at the seams but can’t tear it down til Ovi passes Gretzky, they’ll need some grinders if they make the playoffs. We all know how tenacious Strome and Gustafsson are on 50/50 pucks :/ - ObeseOprah
To me IMO I only have Boston, Carolina, Tampa, and Toronto as true locks for the east right now. I know New jersey is sitting good but I am curious how that young team responds if they lose say 5 in a row and those veteran teams below them start closing quickly. Their spread between home and road records is crazy. Almost prefer to NOT have home ice.
Games played hurts teams like NYI and Wash and likely why we saw that move by Lou earlier than most expected. He knows he's running out of runway to get his team into the dance. |

I put an expiration date on revisionist history. Turning a new leaf for you gals/guys on here.
Just want to see an active KD and again...takes 2 to tango but hoping he realizes that aged out guys like DeHaan or Johnson are best used to deal even for a pick or younger guy who can maybe mold into something vs keeping a guy in the twilight of his career to just eat minutes. That's why we have cement shoes Tinordi.
In a perfect SteveRain warped world....I'd love to see the following go
Kane
Toews
Domi
89--not even going to attempt to spell that name
Lafferty
Richardinson
McCabe or Murphy--would love to see both but doubt it.
Johnson
Yep...that's a ton of guys moving out but this team desperately needs picks, and replenishing of prospects quickly. More shots KD and hockey ops have at drafting teenagers better the chances we come out of this possibly sooner rather than later.
Also, ALL far becoming a 3rd team to eat money for picks.
If he finds somebody to take Caleb Jones they should erect a statue of him asap |

Korchinski has all the makings of a Cale Makar type Byron Bowen (minus concussion history) of a free wheeling attacking defenseman who will only improve in his end.
The kid from outside Minny is a long term developmental type but hitting to the fences with homeruns are a nice new wrinkle in a GM.
(and if the kid is a huge fail all we paid was taking on the Toronto goalie in Mrazek so they could map a different future in Toronto in net.)
The pro game of hockey continues to evolve with more puck skill, hands and feet, so a new direction in new prospects takes DECIDING WHAT propspects are the future in the league.
The more difficult part will be finding scores and attackers that are not Kurachev - like-eg. they are guys READY to sco0re, contribute with scoring acumen, not the hopes they become them... |

It depends on the return. If the return is not adequate I would hold onto Raddysh, Domi and D!ickinson. |

Don’t ramp the expectations up for Korchinski otherwise the BOD will be screaming for his head. He looks to be a good, possibility very good offensive defenseman, but it’s extremely unlikely he will ever be in the same stratosphere as Makar.

Johnson probably won't receive any interest cause of his contract and severe lack of health. I can't see anyone beside Toews, Domi, Kane and McCabe netting us a decent return. Maybe Raddysh even though he's young and might be worth keeping

If most of those guys listed get moved chances are you're using all three retention slots eliminating the possibility of being the 3rd party in a 3 way trade.
I wouldn't mind taking on one of Zaitsev from Ottawa, Bailey from NYI, or someone else as a cap dump as long as a 3rd pick or better comes back. If not at the TDL then maybe prior to the draft as teams need to reshape their rosters to make trades or sign free agents.

Holding on to guys on 1 year deals doesn't make sense. I know Domi likes it here, and maybe he resigns after the year.
They just need to stock pile as many picks, prospects as humanly possible. |

I’m interested to see if the Horvat acquisition makes a huge difference for the Isles. That is a pretty decent group of centermen. - paulr
It is, but that team was clearly elevated by Trotz. With Trotz gone they’re leaning on Sorokin hard. In my opinion they’re one injury to him or Barzal away from being outside the playoffs.
Even if they sneak in, a first round matchup against Boston likely goes five games at best. Lou is pulling all the levers he can before this old team turns back into a pumpkin. |

yeah I am going to try REALLY HARD not to assume anything with any of these kids they have now, or will in the future.
I just hope they have the right staff at Rockford to develop because that's going to be a major variable in all this to ensure these kids develop to the maximum of their abilities without being rushed up the big club. |

Maybe he was referring to Jack Johnson, not Tyler. Little interest there too probably.
I would keep Raddysh. He could be the Patrick Sharp equivalent for this team in 5 years. He has one more year left on his ELC, then sign him to a 3 year bridge, then still a RFA who, if he continues to develop, could be signed to a long extension and be the "veteran" to play alongside recent and future draft classes. |

I saw about two shifts of Korchinski in the preseason before making up my mind that he’s a great skater. Even compared to NHL talent he has wheels. The Jones brothers are both graceful skaters, but aren’t as fast as this kid. I’m also trying to not get too hyped up on these kids, but Korchinski is one where we can show a tiny glimmer of hope, just as a treat. Nazar saw how interested we were in him and decided to hire Kathy Bates from Misery to hobble himself. |

I've always like the Islanders. Rowdy fan base...reminds me of the Bills in NFL a little. I hope they can make a run.
Liked the aggressiveness on Lou jumping on that earlier. For this year, and likely next year as I don't see him giving up that ask if he didnt think he could extend him. Never say never, but a good start for the deadline. |

It was Jack Johnson....I know he's old, etc...but GMs have massiver hard ons for veteran D men come deadline time. Especially those grisly vets who can slot in at the bottom pair and not kill you and a few minutes a night. |

Big weekend coming up for Rinzel's Waterloo Black Hawks. 1st place Fargo comes in to play 2 on the Olympic surface vs the Hawks, who are in 2nd. FAR is 7-3 last 10 and Loo is 9-1...... Great atmosphere in Wateloo, they fill the arena, best PBP Man in the league, 6-7 cameras including above and behind each net and center ice. Like an NHL production.
Rinzel is in a great spot, on a good team with a good coach in a great league. As I posted a couple weeks ago doesn't take a scout's eye to see his size, skating and reach but right now he's 3rd on his team in Dman scoring to a 20 yr old and fellow 18 yr old, his compete is a question as is his decision making, lotta odd mans against cuz of his pinching/roving, he's 2nd unit PP and as can be imagined h needs some work in his end.
The switch hasn't gone off yet but meaningful games like this weekend and the playoffs to come in the 2nd half of the season will be helpful to his development. ... I'll be watching, that's for sure.
