I was thinking the same thing….god only knows what Fletcher would have paid him and for 8 years no doubt. - landros 2
The Bruins were linked to Horvat, however the Bruins do not need him this year, but will need him next year and beyond. The Islanders gave up a lot for Horvat as a rental, but I don't see Horvat extending with the Islanders with a team like the Bruins interested in him. In the end, the Bruins will need big help at center next year. |

Is a few more goals going to increase his value? Will no goals decrease it? I don't think it will. A few teams will have interest for sure. Don't see a bidding war. 3rd rd pick is fine. anything more great.
question to is what options out there are better than JVR and where does he land on a teams trade pecking order? - hello it's me 2050
With the cap and all will be interesting. Injuries may occur, but i would think a team with a little cap space that is trying to make a deeper run. He won't cost too much, can help a PP and is a vet. But not really top line material anymore. Maybe it could be a tampa or toronto if we are taking a contract back. but don't see it for the top tier teams in the East. Avs are said to be looking for a center.
For some reason i keep think he may go out wesst just for a short stint.

JOB would be a direct analog to Daultan Leveille, whom the Jets elected not to sign after 4-years of college and they got a compensatory pick for it. |

I agree, given JOBs size and skill set, I would not be surprised if the Flyers did not offer him a contract. - jd250

don't disagree a 2nd would be great, I would pull the trigger ASAP if you get a 2nd before teams use their assets elsewhere. If JVR did get hot, and the right fit team was there, you could see a 2nd and project roster player - wcorvette
I would also rather move him sooner rather than later.
Just a hunch I think he stays and re-signs. Seems to me Torts likes him. To what extent, not sure.

Can apply that logic to any team. - hello it's me 2050
I agree. I think Horvat went fairly cheap and a lot of teams gotta be kicking themselves who wanted him. But this is a flyers thread so who cares if Carolina was going to make the deal or not?

I don't think teams are kicking themselves at all. IMO they knew what the cost was and decided not to pay it. They had to have some kind of inkling a deal with the isles was close and the cost. Unless the Vancouver GM is just a bad GM.

no room for what? a 1 year ext wouldn't be an issue. Not what I would do.
Who in the A is ready to take a top 9 role next season on the wing? More importantly will the coach play said player? Take Ollie for example.

Last few seasons? He has been on the job for a year. January 22, 2022 he was named. |

wing is where their depth is, also the easiest to fill. I don't see JVR taking a 1 year deal, I think he goes for his final contract, fair would be a 3 year deal. You will have Cam and Coots coming back, you have Brink, Foester, Desnoyers and Lycksell. Sure, none of them are JVR, but no need to commit to JVR with where the team is currently.

If I’m not mistaken Horvat’s agent was allowed to approach teams earlier this season about deals. I would say with almost 100% certainty that Horvat is an Islanders well into his 30’s or Lou really has lost his mojo. No way they give up 3 pieces for Horvat as a rental. |

He is at best going to get a 2 year deal. Be shocked he gets more unless very cheap. J
Don't think those 2 fit into the plans next year at all. Ollie PPG in the AHL yet still flyers wont play him. Seems odd to me on the surface; especially one that lacks skill. Brink we shall see how the rest of his AHL year goes as he is a possibility.
Cam no clue as who knows so not even putting him into any mock lineup at this point. |

Lou is one of the best imo with this. I agree that horvat will be with the isles. guessing 7 x 6.5 mil.

if you say so. Bottom line is unless you can prove otherwise this was the best deal they could get at the time.

I am with you 100%. Be so silly to bring hi back. Just do not think it is that outlandish is all.
Would JVR and 3rd/solid prospect get you a 1st in the 25-32 range? Even in a future draft?

maybe move mine up to 8 years as well. Lou just always seems to get them signed for less than what the market is.
