Still think the Flyers could have made it happen if they wanted to. I get why they might not but the cost was cheaper than 99% of people predicted it would be.

Can apply that logic to any team.

Fine give a half decent prospect and make it protected. Jay O brien worth anything? I have no clue on Flyer prospects. I just mean I think everyone thought vancouver would have gotten a better deal.
- Aaron_85

I went to the first BC/BU game this past weekend, BU ended up blowing BC out. JOB actually looked good, he was skating better than I have seen him skate this entire season, he was tenacious on winning puck battles and had a couple of nice assists. It was nice to see JOB playing better again, hopefully the injuries are behind him. Kaplan looked raw, but skates well, has good size and good instincts to the net. However I see him as a player that will play possibly 4 years in college at this point. Cutter looked lackluster to be honest, maybe just an off night. One thing about college hockey is the shifts are long and thus there is much more time between shifts. I thought it was weird that BC down 3-1 going into the 3rd did not throw Cutter's line out there more to try to get back into the game. For the two games, I don't think Cutter recorded a point.

Boston is taking Hayes and probably giving us a top pick.

Good news though. I learned today that Tortorella should win the Jack Adams award.

Nope. Everyone here wants more talent, how is Horvat not more talent? The two guys who got sent were a middling winger and a B prospect with a protected first. You're telling me Laughton and an unprotected first doesn't get it done?

Canucks got the better end of this deal. with the state this team is in, they should be selling.

JOB looks to be a 23 year old players who isn't even dominating. What role would he even have at the NHL level.

May be better off taking the compensatory 2nd rd pick. Maybe Bill can chime in to give his take and any insight what the flyers think of him.

3 years ago the Flyers needed potential talent like JOB in the system, they now have others who can fill that potential, don't get me wrong they still need his skill set but not if he is not going to hit is top end, right now, take the 2nd

Getting a compensatory 2nd round pick I would consider a win at this point. Hitting on it would be even better.

So Vancouver didnt double down and re-sigh Horvat. Will the flyers take that approach in time? Not a chance. Run it back Chuck.

Will Laughton's value ever be higher?

Why would a team who is in the 6th spot for the wild card give up a productive player and a more than likely top 10 pick for a player who will be an UFA come seasons end?

Yeah, his value definitely seems higher than it was a few years ago right before he re-signed here. When lots of people on here were saying “his value will never be higher”. Weird

I agree, given JOBs size and skill set, I would not be surprised if the Flyers did not offer him a contract.

Listen to the prospect podcast from a few weeks ago, Bill and Brent Flahr talk about JOB and all the prospects in the pipeline, it was really good.

JOB was a huge reach of a pick, that was just a flat out horrible decision by management to draft that kid there.

JVR?

With Horvat going does that push the Flyers to get a deal for JVR sooner than later? Or, do the Flyers hope JVR comes back and pots a few more goals, then trade?

I’m on the fence here….I have never seen JOB play….late bloomer? Injuries? The guy is skilled from what I read about him. God knows they can use skill.

I was thinking the same thing….god only knows what Fletcher would have paid him and for 8 years no doubt.

I actually think JVR will get more then some are suggesting…unless Fletcher, “fletchers” that one as well.

What are you expecting? I’m thinking second/third as the ceiling

It was higher then imo as he was an expiring contract. His term and $ may or may not hinder a deal today.

Not sure on the draft capital….but more or less a slow developing prospect like a Tippet or Bellows….not a “A” prospect ….but a failed “A” or a B type….then maybe a 2 or a 3rd rnd pick. I just hope JVR continues to play well and stays healthy. That just my opinion.

Is a few more goals going to increase his value? Will no goals decrease it? I don't think it will. A few teams will have interest for sure. Don't see a bidding war. 3rd rd pick is fine. anything more great.

question to is what options out there are better than JVR and where does he land on a teams trade pecking order?

don't disagree a 2nd would be great, I would pull the trigger ASAP if you get a 2nd before teams use their assets elsewhere. If JVR did get hot, and the right fit team was there, you could see a 2nd and project roster player

Hope this 1st round pick continues to grow, I think we will see him towards the end of the season.
