Drew doughty #2 overall, Norris trophy, first ballot hall of famer. Do you think that guy helped? - ClaudeFather
They had a lot of just first round picks in general on that team as well.
Kopitar, Carter, Richie, Doughty, Brown, J Will, Gaborik, Gagne, Voynov
Pearson
and good role players as well. |

Sorry...made me chuckle a little. I know we're not supposed to comment on grammar and spelling and stuff. I understood what you were trying to say. I always liked Norm Crosby (if you're old enough to remember him). The Sopranos were good for malapropism (malaprops?) too... "revenge is like serving cold cuts" |

seems to be the only way the Flyers will pull it off, their lineup is full of 1st round picks, they need to hit multiple homeruns in the next 2 drafts and have the current group hit their prime better than they are today

Absolutely. The Flyers don’t need to tank to become relevant again. They need to hit on their picks, which is my point. - SuperSchennBros
And my point is that while yes, they have to hit on their picks, history shows us that there are many more hits in the top 5 than there are at the middle and bottom of the lottery.

Yeah, and similar to LA or most, make some savvy trades at the right time.
I understand some saying they want to build the next Tampa or Pitt, but i will settle for catching napalm in a bottle like St. Louis.

Absolutely, your odds of landing a top end prospect that will actually work out increase greatly the closer you are to the to of the draft. The other thing to consider is players like Bedard step right into the NHL and finish their development at the highest level versus having to wait 2, 3 or even 4 years before we see the player in the NHL. |

I think we are seeing TK's peak, Laughton's peak, Coots past peak. The ones under 25 still have a chance to peak

Uhh if someone doesn't catch the ball and the team hurries up then its cheating as they didn't get the 1st down legally.
But we can agree to disagree. - Aaron_85
Not cheating.
The refs called the completion, therefore they did get the first down legally. There's nothing in the game that says a team has to do the refs job for them.
Also, the team is only hurrying because there's this thing called a "play clock" where if they don't get the succeeding play executed before it expires, they are assessed a "delay of game" penalty. It's up to the referees to stop the play clock and call an official time-out. The same referees who called the completion, BTW.
A situation for stopping the play clock is for a team's challenge of the previous play. It's not the Eagles fault that the 9ers staff was too slow or oblivious in catching anything amiss in the time between the last play (that was ruled a completion by the refs) and the next play, and the Eagles weren't obligated to risk a delay of game penalty just to afford them more sufficient time. |
