Part of Arthur Staple column discussing trade deadline possibilities on Kane:
Seems like the whole league knows now that Kane needs hip surgery. If he doesn’t shut down the season and get the surgery soon to be ready for free agency and 2023-24, he’s going to be damaged goods.

- airjan23

if thats the case then the whole thing is done and Blackhawks blew it

Panarin, Ziba, Tarasenko
Kid Line
Kreider, Trochek, Vesey

Goodrow, Acciari, Fischer
Ritchie, Acciari, Goodrow

I think this is where we need to be… we need a reliable 4th line for the playoffs. We need this line out there to give everyone else a bit more rest on the bench as well as provide reliable defense, energy and some scoring.

You suck

This is the only way I don’t trade for him. There is no other reason I wouldn’t

Staple on Acciari:
Pros: Veteran center who’s had some productive seasons. Another 4C candidate who could be had for a low cost and provide some steady depth.

Cons: Not exactly a speedster and the Rangers already have Ryan Carpenter in the system to provide what Acciari could.

Why is this my fault? I am sharing info and would have been intrigued by Panarin-Kane

this is the Staple thing from the Athletic:

Patrick Kane, RW, Hawks

Stats: 44 GP, 9-23-32

Contract: $10.5-million cap hit, pending UFA

Pros: BFFs with Panarin, so there’s no concern about chemistry. One of the elite distributors and playmakers of this generation and has produced well even through Chicago’s downturn. He has full control of his trade destination and has always been interested in the Rangers.

Cons: Seems like the whole league knows now that Kane needs hip surgery. If he doesn’t shut down the season and get the surgery soon to be ready for free agency and 2023-24, he’s going to be damaged goods. If he only wants to come to the Rangers, Drury could see if a low-ball offer gets accepted. But it’s hard to see how Kane is the centerpiece of anyone’s deadline plans now and even a last-minute deal would require major finessing due to his cap hit.

here's another one:

Nick Ritchie, LW, Coyotes

Stats: 46 GP, 8-12-20

Contract: $2.5-million cap hit, pending UFA

Pros: Big body who isn’t afraid to throw his weight around or cause some chaos in front of the opposing net. Hasn’t returned to his decent-scoring early days in Anaheim in quite a few years but seems to know his role better as a middle-sixer who can score a bit and agitate a bit.

Cons: Another left wing who would require some shuffling among the current group, even in the bottom six. Only four EV goals this season and he’ll get next to zero PP time with the Rangers.

Sounds like its either the same adductor tendon/core muscle surgery Karlsson and Hintz got, or hes got a labrum tear in his hip.

Youre comparing someone who is in the system vs. a veteran with 10 goals on the year playing in the bottom 6, wins faceoffs at 54% and has 150 hits on the year and manages to only have 5 penalties on the year given his physical play. Its a pure rental, but could possibly resigned for the right money.

I didn't play the game so not sure how to feel about it.
- JRR1285

Me either, but we are digging it. Knowing it is a video game, I can see what I perceive to be overlap in the plot. Not distracting though.

I am not, I am posting what Staple said. No problems with acciari, wonder if he or Motte, if healthy, would be a better fit, especially on forecheck

I feel like the Tarasenko thing is gonna gain steam if its true that Kane's injury has scared teams off

You need that shiny flashy big name player every time.
Don't blame you, don't think it happens this season. Price for Tarasenko just went up.
