If padding the bank accounts are primary, I would think the endorsement dollars in Chicago would far outweigh any other location.

Chevrolet and Bauer. I am sure if push comes to shove, Wirtz can make him a brand ambassador for one of its liquor brands. Whatever, the amount of money for winning the Stanley cup comes to about $200k per player, and whatever the ring is worth, so if it is purely financial, they are better off staying.

The Jackets are surprisingly bad, if there is any team that will get the #1 pick over the Hawks its Columbus, regardless of the standings.

I don’t know if the Hawks will be as active at the TDL as people expect. There is lots of competition in the rental market. I know Kane and to a lesser degree Toews have a certain cache with their history, but they’re having poor seasons, Maybe they play better on better teams but it’s a risk for the acquiring team. I think Horvat will be the top rental target, he’s having the best season and would be worth re-signing. Meier would be in a similar situation.

Domi and AA could be dealt, but the return would be limited. I’ve started to see Raddysh’s name is trade rumours, he’s on a 20-25 goal pace (on a bad team) and he has 1 more year after this season with an AAV under $1 million. I doubt KD moves Raddysh, but I wouldn’t have expected KD to get 2 firsts and 2 roster players for Hagel either.

- DarthKane

Unless they get a really good return I would not mind them keeping Domi, D!ckinson, Lafferty, Kurashev and Raddysh. I would rather have them then 4th round picks.
I would take any late round pick for AA.
I have no clue on demand or return for McCabe and Murphy.

Depends on the player, but I agree with fatty that leaving KK in the CHL next year does nothing for his development. He is already a dominating player, is NHL size, unless you want him to work on his Michigan move.

An interesting question (dilemma?) will be where Korchinski plays next yr assuming he has a great camp and maybe 9 game NHL look. Of course each player is different but I'm on the side of over marinating, especially Dmen and centers.....

What about Vlasic and Phillips? If they both make the NHL roster will that affect what KD does with Korchinski, ready or not? Would KD go with 3 pure young rookies on the blueline next yr with Kane and Toews probably gone?

6 Dmen being Murphy, McCabe, (assuming they're still Hawks) Jones, Phillips, Vlasic and KK? Is Mitchell gone, do they bring back Johnson?

A big positive is both Del Mastro and Allan (Colton Dach too) will have completed their Indentured Servitiude to the CHL and will be in Rockford next yr.

Seems only logical at this point that he stays. I can't see a big benefit to being on the big club.

Even if he could handle the grind, what would be the benefit? They will be awful again next year, you'd burn a year or two of his contract.

I'll admit i was one of the ones who backed Dach being with the big club, as I thought he wouldn't develop much back in the CHL. I was wrong. Rarely will I ever take that position again.

Hawks should be getting better after his last year in CHL, and one year in Rockford.

You are going through a lot of BS right now, tear down first, (and unlike the Bears, Hawks haven't completed theirs until after the TDL or the end of season depending on TDL trades) then you rebuild.

Let all of these guys mature a min of one year in Rockford.

Except of course Bedard

Shouldn't it depend on the player? Some guys can get it faster than others. Heiskanen came in a year after his draft without issue (about the same size).
Hughes came in the same year as drafted (smaller). If the player shows that he can cut it, why leave them down? Keith and Seabrook played a few years on some brutal teams and turned out to be pretty good. KK has already shown better this year than last. He is expected to be one of, if not the, main defenseman for this team going forward. Let the ability of the player make the call.

I get it, its just past history outside the exceptions you've mentioned, seems that the risk isn't worth it. You can do more damage rushing a prospect than if he plays a year too long in the minors.

If this was the 2015 team and you need help at D desperately I get it. But to me, in this situation, at this stage of the rebuild, the reward isn't there for the risk.

They aren't really exceptions though. There are plenty of examples of players that come in a year after their draft. I guess I don't understand what you mean by risk. If you are talking about injury, he's going to be playing hockey regardless. For reference, Dach got injured in a prospect showcase, and the WJC, not against NHLers.

if you are talking about shielding them from crap teams, there is no way around that. What does he gain from putting up an extra 10-15 points more than this year in Seattle next year? He just shows you what you already know.

Not on injury risk. You can get hurt anywhere.

Guess a better way to put it, is its more of a philosophy of I'd rather over develop, in lieu of under develop at this stage of a rebuild, that's just me.

Aren't they though, you rarely see a dman drafted and play the very first year in the league, it occasionally happens at 19, but 20 seems to be a very popular number. Considering how frequent concussions are in the NHL, i do think young players who are thinking the game at the NHL level are more prone to getting lit up and in the NHL it happens in a split second. I believe Dach, Boqvist both suffered concussions their rookie year.

Seabrook was 20
Keith was 22

I think the hawks have to bring up some of these Dmen starting next season. Mainly because they need to alleviate the logjam (Logjammin reference) down there. You have Phillips, Mitchell, Galvas, and Regula who have all been down there over a year. Vlasic is big enough to join the Hawks and not get ragdolled. You’ll have the incoming possibilities of Kaiser, Korchinski, del Mastro, Allen. Those four are highly touted.

I’m hopeful that C Jones, Murphy, and Johnson are gone from this year’s D group. None of them are above replacement level, and their services as tank commanders can be easily picked up by rookies.

I’m still puzzled as to why Galvas hasn’t seen more call up time. He looked very steady back there last season, calmly executing plays and keeping the puck out of our zone.

My head is exploding reading about destinations and "probable" asks on Hawk "assets."

I guess it is starting bother me are how the scribes are spitballing' the asks (just like us).
Today's is Leafs interest in Jake McCabe and how Davidson wold want a second and a prospect.

The only have 2024 second and I doubt they sending Matthew Knies in a package for Jake McCabe.
I guess if there was demand for McCabe he has value but this much? Nah!

Maybe the send Fraser Minten the big rugged C/W our way but two assets for McCabe?

Hope springs eternal.

I guess I expect most Hawk trade movement to be coming for the addition of Cap to facilitate deals by taking contracts and players if the our two keynote speakers decide they have laryngitis.

Players don't get concussed in the A?

Have you ever watched an AHL game? They allow hitting there, too.

I saw him live at Maple Leaf Gardens live three times as a kid and one time we waited on Wood street behind the Gardens to get autographs. I managed to get a number and didn’t think I’d get Bobby’s as the team was yelling at him to get on the bus. But he signed until the last kid received his signature including myself. even though I received that autograph over 55 years ago I still remember what he wrote. To my good friend Paul, keep your head up, Bobby Hull 9.
