Carlo is an excellent low event defensive defenseman. To say that he's brutal is ridiculous. The man does a wonderful job of shutting down the best power plays in the league. I'd like to have 2 more just like him.

Disagree. The guy is quite often serving pizzas and missing coverage. Ullmark has covered up a lot this year. Calling him excellent is ridiculous. He's average. However the options after him are Strahlman an Zboril. Yikes.

Yeah they guys talked about it. They knew who they were up against and knew that they'd be coming in tired. Wanted to make a statement and make sure the Bruins didn't get a chance to get up off the mat. Hope to see you guys in the East finals. it's fun hockey.

Heck yeah. Good games to watch. Next time it will be a different game. See you March 26

I am torn on Carlo. He is very good defensively but with the puck he's very shaky. He is currently the only player back there that struggles with the breakout. He is stuck in the "make sure the puck gets out" as the first option.

I think Clifton has outplayed Carlo considerably.

I would likely trade him for Horvat. Might try to pry Schenn away as well if thats the case. That is, IF Horvat is signing a reasonable deal. In my opinion, Horvat at 9M will be an albatross.

At least the Bruins didn't pay that price. Yikes. That's likely carlo, lysell and a 1st for Sweeney

Clifton has been great this year. Carlo gets the "Hall Gill" rap, big boy that doesn't use his body, but defensively is generally solid.

And deservedly so. Neither guy used/uses their size the way they should. When Carlo gets physical it's usually an accident. Ie: opposing player lost an edge going into the boards, accidental collisions, or Carlo himself losing balance and taking someone down with him. Concussion issues aside, he doesn't play to his size.

Listen, his defensive abilities may be slightly above average, but the rest of his game is pedestrian at best. I'm not calling to bench him, or even get rid of him, because the replacements in the pipeline aren't anything to get excited about either, but is it asking too much for the biggest guy on our team to play even a slightly physical game? I don't think that's crazy...

I don't particulary care for the guy. He is oft injured and as others have echoed, kind of a pizza man with the puck. It's frustrating. I think it behooves the Bruins to go and get an insurance policy as Carlo staying healthy is a risk. If they don't then it's probably Zboril. Who has all the physical tools but for some reason just can't perform. Carlo's health is a liability more so than any other defender.

Schenn
Gavrikov
Zadorov

Should be low cost rentals, who play physical and could compliment McAvoy and Lindholm much better than Zboril or worse Strahlman,Achan, etc in Carlo's place should he or rather when he goes down.

Nice move for the future if they traded for and signed him. The Bruins need an upgrade on Smith. This season is all that should really matter to this front office.

Horvat will be overpaid is the problem. I wonder what the deal is with Dylan Larkin. He's a UFA and still only 26. Not sure they would want to trade in division though.

Elias Lindholm, Chandler Stephenson and Ryan Hartman are a few centers i'd keep my eye on that will be free agents in 2024.

I do have a feeling Luke Schenn will be the trade target at the deadline.

wouldnt mind Schenn, lets see what Donnie does. I think Gryz is a liablitity in the playoffs too, but despite last three games, Carlo has been anchoring a very effective power play. And yeah, he needs to be more physical for his size, but its clearly not his game.

I would be really surprised if Larkin decided to leave the wings.

Having said that, IF he does choose to leave, he would look really good in a Bruin's uniform.

Donny will probably grab a few spare parts for the playoff run. Unless there is a major injury, I dont see him swinging a giant trade this year.

This off season maybe. But who knows, we will probably have another summer of the "is bergy coming back" saga

Yeah it would suck to lose him to UFA but if thats what it takes to get Pasta I'm okay with it.

Lol good luck with that. If pasta decides to go to free agency, some team will probably make him the highest paid player. The bidding war will be insane.

Wings going to cough up over 13M/per?

I don't necessarily need Carlo to be more physical. He's needs to stay in the lineup and if he could reduce things like turning the puck over and crashing into the goalie then great. Adding Schenn would bolster the Defense have a capable guy ready for when teams begin checking in earnest.

No but I'm going to make up a story and say Hronek is his best friend so he will go to DET under market value
