The Athletic ranks Flyers prospect pool at #14.

That's a little higher than I thought they would be. So good news?

One of flyers best road games under torts. MAF saved Wild's bacon 🥓

I was expecting a one goal game with either team winning. The Wild play-by-play announcer said in a podcast a few days ago that he would be shocked if the Wild didn’t win by 4-1 or 5-1.

Flyers are not talented but most games are close. They do get exposed by the elite teams though. I would not consider the Wild an elite team though.

From reading it, yeah actually.

He has a lot of good things to say about Gauthier, Kaplan, Andrae, Foerster, and Zamula.

Agree. The Wild are competing not contending. They only have one line that can score. Coming into last night they had one 5x5 goal in the last 3 games.

At least they are losing before the game reaches the shootout. Positive!

2017 NHL draft, not only did the Flyers get a turd at # 2, they took Ratcliffe who will never be an NHL regular 3 picks ahead of Jason Robertson who is currently in the top 5 in the League in scoring. And people wonder why this franchise is where it is.

Brown's fighting style is similar to his skating and playing style.

This is where he projects the Flyers' top prospects:

1. Gauthier: "I fully expect Gauthier to be an impactful NHL player and scorer. I’m not sure he’ll be a star..."

2. York: "...a potential top-four defenseman..."

3. Brink: "...a top-nine role..."

4. Foerster: "...a middle-six, well-rounded complementary scoring winger..."

5. Andrae: "...an NHL top-six."

They need something bonafide to go with that, but without 1 piece the rest are lost.

3. Brink: "...a top-nine role..." ...."in the near future and a top-six one in the prime of his career."

Just adding for context.

Overall there is some talent there. The kind of talent you need on a contender. But what we can all agree on is that they lack those true top of the lineup first line/first pair players in the system. As long as they have to go the FA route to get those types they will never truly be a great team.

I don't know if having the 2nd worst overtime record in the league is really a positive. How long before old man Torts figures out that his two defensemen/one forward strategy is not working?

Kind of out of context. He was stating that before he was drafted this is what he saw.

I saw an excellent distributor who makes the game look easy, rotating in and out of space with and without the puck to make plays and get open. I saw a light, fluid stride and smooth hands which help him manipulate opposing players, create separation without a separation gear and manage pressure to play with a ton of poise with the puck. I saw a positional defender who does a good enough job gapping up and maintaining his gaps to help break up plays and transition back the other way without needing to push people around. I saw a potential top-four defenseman who could be an effective and offensively-inclined three-zone player. The Flyers are seeing that now, too (and credit to John Tortorella on the York front because he has handled his progression smartly this year).

So Torts gets credit for York playing well now because they buried him in the AHL to start the season, even though York already looked good in his 30 games under Yeo last season.

Does that mean Torts gets the blame for Zamula's regression? Anyone still want to claim it made sense to have Zamula on the roster in October and November ahead of York?

Bill just completed an article as well detailing how Risto has been performing better lately. Is a good read

These lists mean nothing though really. A few years ago we had a top three prospect pool for a couple years. Some of the names on there turned out to be nothing.

Absolutely. And with his size, i thought we were going to have a goalie controversy next year. His KHL numbers were great, i was looking forward to him finally coming over.
