5.5 for Kuz. Looks like they’re keeping him and trying to dump other over paid wussies as they should.

Lack of pushback! Are you serious!? That has been the issue with this team for years! Dubas seems to think that having a guy like Simmonds or Clifford playing on the 4th line every now and then will cover it! He doesn’t get it! Leafs need toughness that can play hockey, every night! He’d rather pay for soft skill that can’t keep up when things get tough. You need a balance and Dubas will never get it! If he hasn’t got the message after all these years it’s not going to happen now! Prepare for another early exit! Hopefully it’s an exit for Dubas as well.

Nice to see you are here and angry as ever after the Leafs won their last 2 games.

Good god your a broken record.

Two years with a 12 team NTC because Canucks. Mikhayev, Myers and OEK the only other players with NTCs

I know the dogma is that the Leafs play a run and gun, shoot-out brand of hockey, and you know I would never question what the collective thinking of the Twitterati are, but they're actually the fourth-stingiest team in goals against/game played.

Why do I say this?

Because most of last night's game was as dull as the New Jersey Devils in the neutral zone trap era. It was a really, really dull entertainment product.

Maybe, just maybe, they are already playing a playoff brand of hockey.

- Atomic Wedgie

I'm caught in a mental loop of (frank)ery right now based off of the word: stingiest.

I know what you mean but I stuck with spelling, is it like bee sting, stingy pain, or is it like holding your wallet closed like stingy???

Not being a Richard either, are they spelled the exact same way with different pronunciations or is there a spelling difference. *goes to Google before head explodes*

Edit: they're spelled the same. Why is this not making sense to me???

stingy, close, niggardly, parsimonious, penurious, miserly mean being unwilling or showing unwillingness to share with others.

I agree with MiB.

I think all this team needs to take the next step and go for a nice playoff run...Cup included...is a couple of bangers that can play for real. Not goons, but tougher versions of Bunting but with the same attitude, who if push came to shove can drop the mitts and stand up for the softees on the team.

One bad ass on D and one top six LW and if the bottom 6 doesn't really score much swap in some tougher guys that non-stop hit.

I truly believe that would go a long way to balancing out the softness of this team.

We all know it is the scouting book on the Leafs around the league just go at them hard to win. We watch the teams that can do it, do it every time; and it works more than not.

With 7 games in a round, it's exhausting to keep your head on a swivel and continually take a beating AND win. Without push back it comes at them relentlessly.

I've been paying attention to the players on the other team for the past two years and have watched them: never have to rush a pass, or tense up going into the corner, or worry skating down the wall into our zone, or feel pressure when cycling around our zone or think twice about running around in the crease; never any angst about any of those things at all. Little bumps, an occasionally nice hit, but never big hits that make an opponent think twice.

The team needs to balance some talented toughness with the soft skill. It's a must this year if they want to get by Tampa AND possibly Boston to get to the finals.

Even out the playing field. One team can't just be punished all game. They will ultimately lose. We've all watched it for a few years now.

We need to bring some of the pain to the game for a change.

Agreed.

Should be a good game between Tampa and Boston tonight.

Who would you prefer to win?

Bruins so we have a better chance to stay ahead of Tampa and get home ice against them in round 1.

Tampa so at least there's a glimmer to try and catch Boston and win the division?

I think if the Leafs can't find someone on the ice to deal with these goons going after our star players, then the Leafs can definitely afford some cash under the table to find some goons to wait in the parking lot to jump players that take liberties and try to injure our star players.

It actually works out better because then we don't have to worry about penalties and the hockey team can focus on winning.

Thoughts?

A constant parade to the penalty box and / or suspensions?
- Cush29

Cush you know better. Stop oversimplifying. Playing with some bite, snarl, and pushback is not the same thing as taking a bunch of stupid penalties, which our team has already shown they know how to do.

No Fiddy you should know better and stop dreaming that the Leafs get away or will get away with half of what the Bostons and Tampas do. The biggest Leaf star in forever took 2 cross checks and stood up for himself with one back and got suspended, where players form other teams doing the EXACT SAME THING get a 5K penalty at best.

I"m not saying they don't need more snarl, bite, truculence or whatever you want to call it in their game, they definitely do but remember when we had a guy who brought that named Kadri? How did that play out come playoffs?

I know the popular narrative online is they need to 'stand up for each other' which people equate to a scrum when a player is levelled on a clean hit (see the hit on Gio last night for exhibit A) but that does diddly squat. You think Boston cares that there is a scrum?

Bunting is the guy on L1 who has the bite and snarl despite him not being a big time fighter he will if need be.

They need something similar on L2.

L3 m'eh can probably live without it provided they are guys with size (which they have)

l4 - Definitely need it, probably with 2 of 3 and preferably one who can fight and is decent at it.

D - As many have said get one big bastard D man who punishes guys non stop with hits, and brining the pain in front of the net for the top 6. IF he can fight it's a bonus.

My 2 cents.

For those who want P Kane for L2 does that not just make L2 smaller but admittedly far more skilled and dangerous (unless the game is bang and crash, clutch and grab aka Playoffs).

Size note put on Bruins / Tampa game and have the following hot takes:

1. Tampa's retro reverse jersey looks like a trashy roller hockey jersey -

2. Jack Edwards is still the biggest tool of all. Hall runs Vasi and Sergachev gives him a light cross check when he is down and a few pushes and Edwards is whining about multiple cross checks and punches to the head. STFU you homer jesus that is the Boston playbook 101 - run the goalie and if you are going to do that you better be ready to pay the price.

3. I hope both team lose and beat the tar out of each other in the "Dirtiest team in the league cup" is that wrong?

Anyone with a large breed dog and order their food consistently online?

Go back to all past orders and see how many lbs of dog food you’ve purchased.

I firmly believe the guy is a classless POS and I have a few friends who are Bruins fans who say the same. Homer or not when you are just calling things that didn't happen and it's right in front of you on a TV replay it just proves my point.

I saw he 'apologized' to Pat Maroon today - I didn't read how it went over, anyone know? IF I was Maroon I'd have told him to GTFO.

He's stroking himself to Brad Marchand's quote from this am - he's only mentioned it 4 times since I started watching the game.

And whoever is his partner is now whining about the 'puck drop' on a face-off because the Bruins got scored on. lol You can't make this stuff up good god they are whining like the linesman threw the puck in the net and counted it as a goal. lol

Another WTF observation - the Tampa Bay Lighting's goal song is "Ole, Ole Ole Ole"? Scabby, Symba etc. how do you feel about this? Such a weird choice.

Back to whining about Stamkos stick being in 'way early' on the face-off and it being an "illegal face-off" lmao.

And people say Leaf fans whine a lot. lol

His point is that there is a narrative out there that the Leafs "don't know how" to play with an edge.

There are no slap-on-the-wrist fines for Leafs players who crosscheck people in the face.
