I would think the Canooks would want Necas instead of KK along with their 1st in 23 and Philly's 2nd in 24. - dmnted

Let's be real though, the Leafs didn't look very good for the latter half of the game until they found an extra gear for the tying goal

Fair enough, but I didn’t think it had anything to do with team toughness. |

I would be stunned if KK is involved but if that's what Vancouver wants and we can extend Horvat then sure. - BINGO!
KK at this point would just be a salary dump would he not? |

No? His defensive impacts are great. His offense is... meh.
They moved him off Svech and Necas' line because Stastny is too (frank)ing slow and needs guys to cover for him. Svechnikov and Necas' offense dried up after they did that though.
He's fine. $4.8 million per is a fine number for a guy who's essentially a shutdown 3C going forward. |

For some reason I thought his salary was higher. To be honest I thought he might turn out to be Toews 2.0. Still time I guess. |

I know the dogma is that the Leafs play a run and gun, shoot-out brand of hockey, and you know I would never question what the collective thinking of the Twitterati are, but they're actually the fourth-stingiest team in goals against/game played.
Why do I say this?
Because most of last night's game was as dull as the New Jersey Devils in the neutral zone trap era. It was a really, really dull entertainment product.
Maybe, just maybe, they are already playing a playoff brand of hockey. |

How is a solid yet legal hit (the one on Giordano) considered "taking liberties?" |

Lack of pushback! Are you serious!? That has been the issue with this team for years! Dubas seems to think that having a guy like Simmonds or Clifford playing on the 4th line every now and then will cover it! He doesn’t get it! Leafs need toughness that can play hockey, every night! He’d rather pay for soft skill that can’t keep up when things get tough. You need a balance and Dubas will never get it! If he hasn’t got the message after all these years it’s not going to happen now! Prepare for another early exit! Hopefully it’s an exit for Dubas as well. |

Honestly, and while I know it's the minority around here, it's a good thing. St. Louis hasn't been a great team this year, but they are also not abysmal - but you know who is? ROR. He is second worst in +/- at Even Strength in the entire league @ -27 goal differential. Only Batherson on Ottawa is worse.
To put this in perspective, Anaheim is a goddamned disaster, and Vatrano is Anaheim's worst at -23 and that's in 140 more minutes than ROR.
On St. Louis Parayko is next on the poopty list @ -19, and he has played 400 more minutes than ROR.
Add to that his total lack of production and this adds up to a guy who can stay where he is in my opinion.
