Any tax gurus or accountants in here? Trying to figure out how much my son can take out of his RESP before he has to pay taxes on it. I know it gets taxed as soon as you withdraw but with tax credits you should get some back, Im in QC

If it's to buy a house or go back to school, he can do it "for free". Otherwise, it depends on his revenues for the year and all that. Anything above 15k will have him pay something (though quite small), and no idea about his credits and stuff, but he could definitely get some more back. It would have been better doing it a month ago though...

I hear you can get full tax exemption if you ban peanut for a long time, worth the try.

It's a "normal" revenue. under 18k (or around there) = no taxes... then he gets taxed like Peanut would...

10k for going back to school, doesn't get taxed when taking it out. Over that, it's taxed as soon as he gets it (20% if under 5k, 25% between 5k and 15k and 30% if over 15k). That's a revenue, so taxed like a standard income, you start paying at 17k, so if he takes out a total of 25k (10k for the REEP + 15k), he should get back everything he paid when taking it out (if I read this right).
