I thought of him yesterday as were trying to figure out a possible target at forward. Someone like him (but probably not him) would be a great fit. Younger vet with not-too-much term, and can score. But yeah, that ship sailed.
- Slump Buster

Yeah, somebody like him, but actually is a good teammate and human being.

Dude sucks, heard his name in trade rumors

Boy that lasted long, 1 and half years, before wearing out his welcome.

Probably the coach 😀

What happens if they become All Stars with the Sharks, and Timo ends up providing no added value to the Sabres?

Reinfarts a loser. He drags his teammates and coaches down. Told you, but you wanted to play a game about autographs 😀😀😀

I'm just glad I don't have to see his stupid punchable face at every home game.

You should get another reinfart Jersey.....🎯

Gosh, I wonder if ths Coach is driving the change from last season to this season.
You know, the guy who actually runs the system and was THE major change from last year.

Good try to hang it on your fall guy for everything, lol.
He's probably ruining the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The Buffalo Sabres have a massive amount of cap space to work with this season and they are on the cusp of finally breaking their playoff drought. They have won five games in a row and sit one spot and a few points back of the final wildcard spot.

With just over a month until the trade deadline, the Sabres have set themselves up to be big buyers, not only to help them this season, but down the line as well. They have been linked to some high-level players that they could have under contract for many more seasons that would also help them gain an advantage in the playoff race this season. There isn't any need to move out cap this season, but they will likely be looking to move a player the other way in any big deal they do to free up a roster spot.

So who is the prime candidate to move? The team has three goalies in the NHL which isn't ideal because it takes away from an extra skater and the Sabres can only dress two per game. A need for a goalie like Craig Anderson could become available if a backup gets injured. His .919 save percentage at age 41 is impressive for a team that lacks defensively. A team like the New York Rangers could have a look since their veteran backup goalie Jaroslav Halak has been a disappointment. But Anderson can also be a fallback option for the Sabres too.

The Sabres have made Vinnie Hinostroza available, but no team bit before they inevitably sent him down to the AHL. A young player of interest could be Rasmus Asplund. He has had his moments over the past two seasons, but finds himself out of the lineup and has played just 25 games, scoring two goals and eight points. He's 25 years old and could be given a better opportunity on a rebuilding team if he is part of a package to acquire a better player this season.

Selke asplund for a swap of 7th round picks?

“Heard his name in trade rumors”.... source; sports writers kicking around the cap scenarios for when Duclair returns from injury.

Haven’t heard a bad word about Samson down here, as a teammate or as a human, but I’ve never asked him for an autograph although I’ve heard others who have mention how friendly he was to them...

You seem very headstrong on this point. Have you run numbers and used logic to replace certain players with young players on ELC,'s?
If not, you should take the time.
Girgs, Okposso, Anderson, Olofsson, Bishop, Hino, Bjork, Hodgson's buyout...that is $21m right there.
Your worries are pretty unfounded

- IonSabres

Your assumption that all those players would be off the books next year seems fairly unreasonable. It seems that you can be assured that three of them would efinitely be gone, Bjork, Bishop and the Hodgson buyout. It seems fairly certain that Anderson will be gone too but I think that depends upon how well Comrie does through the end of the season and if they get Levi to sign and of course if he wants to play another year. He is playing lights out when he does play. Best numbers on the team.

But the rest I am not at all certain that the sabres would not consider bringing back. I have not heard anything from the Sabres that they are unhappy with Olofsson. Matter of fact I have heard the opposite. Okposo is not worth $6M but he is still producing at about a 40 point pace on the fourth line and he is clearly their captain. Can't imagine he could be more highly respected by the team or the players. Might they consider bringing him back at $2M or even $3M? I don't think he is worth it but I think they would consider it. And though Girgs and Hino are replacable the Sabres like them both. It would not be a huge surprise to me to see one or both resigned, especially Girgs in that he is also seems to be a respected leader on the team. Does not seem clear to me that the $21M is clearly available. It seems that only $7.3M (plus whatever reduction in pay they give Okopos) is going to be available as a certainty.

Glad to hear that about sam.

Guys grow up, he was just a kid here. Maybe I'll get that autograph I never asked for or wanted. 👀

I have a handful of funny stories about him and eichel.
Both were total dueshe's in our community.

Eichel really left a legacy of terrible behavior.
Birds of a feather.....

Yes, sooner or later the Sabres will need to make decisions. You can't keep signing the Olofsson Mitts Girgensons Okposo's to contract extensions without blocking some of your future. Sabres will need to make room or you will have a influx of prospects in Rochester blocking each other because they are being blocked by young players on the Big club with fresh long term contracts. The Botton 6 will be the purge, it's just when and how fast Adams does it.
- Buff36

Which is why I think that Olofsson still may be part of a trade package this year, especially since he has increased his value and might even be a piece that can be added to a package offered to acquire Timo.
