All I've said is Skinner is not on a bad contract, and continue to get pushback for it from people who want to sign a lesser scorer to more money. - lacaprup
You still haven't answered the question. If you could sign Skinner as a UFA to 4 x 9 tomorrow with a full NMC (in other words, what is left on his current contract), do you do it?

I mean the chances of us acquiring Meier are next to none so I won’t waste too much ink on this, but there is a lot of evidence that argues the contrary.
Along with him being a better scorer, he defends much better than Skinner, and his 106 hits this year would be first on the Sabres by nearly 40 hits.
If Alex Tuch and Jeff Skinner had a baby, it would be Timo Meier |

Here is where you go off the tracks. At some point they might wish that they could move on from him because of the giant number, his age, and his value at that point in time. - Slump Buster
And then you find a farm team (like us for example) and ship the contract out, and that is only if Skinner stops scoring all the sudden. However, he has gotten better his last two seasons not worse, so I don't think we have to worry about that right now. |

I did answer you with a specific set of variables I would need to know before I can write out a contract for a scorer I may or may not need.
It's an unanswerable question. |

And that's what started the whole discussion. Many pages back I said that I'd feel better about shopping if we could move Skinner out if we needed to at some point in the future. He has a NMC so that is not likely.

Picture this team without skinner and everything else the same. I don't know how much clearer it needs to be. Do you give him 4 x 9 with a full NMC?

Skinner, Jeff 2022-23
45 games played 50 points so far.
Meier, Timo 2022-23
49 games player 48 points so far. - lacaprup
Different players and would love both on the Sabres. Meier is a ton more physical, something we need.
This team may be a playoff team already, but definitely is with Meier and a Physical 3-4 RHD traded for. |

Ok, so now I am well under the cap floor because of not having Skinner's contract.
Yes, in a NY minute and I'm still barely at the cap floor. Homerun deal. |

"continues" is a reach - he was at the top of the "worst contracts" lists for a reason. Yes, he is having a career year. I am tickled pink that he turned it around. He has 4 x 9 left after this year with a NMC. If he was a UFA today would I give him that deal (4 x 9)? Not a chance. For 9 mill you can't have the warts that Skinner has. I'd go out and get an even better player (like Meier). - Slump Buster
If skinner was about to become a ufa this board would be up in arms.
Just sign skinner...
4 years x 8 million for sure. + buffatax |

In a league where half the league is trying to shed salary, you'd do a significant over-pay for a guy with limitations rather than shopping? Where else is he going to go?
Again, if it goes south that contract is not movable. |

MIAMI -- Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa remains in the concussion protocol and will not participate in next week's Pro Bowl Games, a source told ESPN on Friday. - homiedclown
He's done with Miami
There going after Rodgers
And the AFC east is going to be wide open battle |

Do they have anything left to trade for him? That Chubb trade didn't work out for them on many levels.

Can anyone on the Skinner is on a bad contract bandwagon point to a single instance where it has hurt the Sabres or Jeff Skinner? Since the Sabres and Jeff Skinner are the only two parties to this "bad contract" at some point one of them must have been hurt by this awful deal. - lacaprup
Sabres were a cap team in early in his deal, even took overage penalties. Not fair to think that had an influence on their moves?

Hope ur not talking about this - Anderdog
No.
Allen cheated on his girlfriend and got someone pregnant.
I heard about this over a month ago from someone who’s friends with an O lineman for the Bills
It’s now coming out on Twitter |

Based on YouTube videos I watched at work. He is like another tuch basically.
He would be the definition of a power forward
He just doesn’t have Tuchs speed |
