Looks like the author looked for what he thought is one of the Sabres top 2 prospects.

I'd be near shocked if Adams agreed to Kulich.

I think he'd rather offer a 2024 1st to try and lessen the quality of the prospect.

>>> Would an offer of Jiri Kulich and the Philadelphia Flyers’ 2023 second-round pick (acquired by Buffalo in the Rasmus Ristolainen trade) and a 2024 third-round pick move the needle for the San Jose Sharks?

That sounds like a low return for Meier at first, but consider that Kulich, the 28th-overall pick of the 2022 Draft, has seen his stock rise exponentially this season. The skilled forward scored seven goals in seven games for Czechia in the WJC while earning a silver medal, and it’s conceivable in a 2022 re-draft, he’d go in the top-10.

Kulich is ranked 47th in The Athletic’s recent ranking of the best players and prospects, 23 and younger.

The Sabres own three second-round picks in this upcoming draft, so I went with what I expect to be the highest pick in that round.

I wouldn't use Kulich, and I wouldn't use all the 2nds either. They are gonna be important in this draft.

Probably know as the season gets into February. I mean we had been at about 6% to make it for awhile

We always had the exact same shot. It comes down to the team playing the games. Those silly, arbitrary percentages are nothing more than the fancy video board next to a roulette wheel that also means absolutely nothing.

Really starting to show in what a lot of what these players say in interviews that extracting a very talented wiener from your Locker room has really changed this team.

I think it has become undeniable to anybody what a cancer Jack is. He will never be a leader on a Cup winning team. He can be a spare parts guy, but he's never carrying the load.

Jeff Skinner's hit his career high of 63 points four times. He needs 14 more points to finally break that.

The analytics have been saying this is a team that will be playing meaningful games in March since the very beginning.

The analytics liked the Sabres during the 8 game losing streak even though they weren’t getting the results.

I don't think that's true. In fact before there was real data on Power, Quinn, sorta Samuelsson and Peterka, along with team additions of UPL, Comrie, Lyubushkin, Jost, Clague and the massive uptick in play from Dahlin, Thompson, Skinner, Tuch and Cozens...

We sucked.

I'll go out on a limb and say the magical playoff % number had the Sabres very, very low during their losing streak.

Edit: and, I would not say I consider the playoff % number an analytic of any kind. It's a nothing. It's a look at the current standings and a guess with zero context of the season or team itself.

He would need 13…… but he decided to pass.

I’d do that.

Considering almost every guy on this team is developing in some fashion, this was bound to change.

https://theathletic.com/3...s-2022-23-season-preview/

A points projection of 75 points. We're 10 wins away from hitting that bar with 34 games left.

Yeah, he might need to be included. Rather use Ostlund or Rosen if we could. Probably get ripped for this one, but if the Sabres keep rolling I might be more inclined to use this years 1st. There's a lot of Dman rated in the 2nd rnd in this upcoming draft and that is a pretty big need in our prospect pool.

We're not getting Bedard. The 1st's best use would be an NHL roster upgrade.

Like I've said before, youngest team in the league. We don't need to add youth, and we don't need to stock an already full cupboard. We need NHL talent who are already in their prime.

Can anyone guess without looking who that Sabres player is hanging out by himself?

If that chart implies someone is a scoring outlier on their line it shouldn't be that hard.

Mitts has almost no goals and tons of assists.

Vic has almost no assists and tons of goals.

built out a timo trade and signed some extensions for 23-4. threw casey back at sj just to assume he's be the one coming off books.

Cozens at 7.5 long term. Don't @ me.
Timo at 8 long term. Kept the same defense for now.
We have three forward positions at the bottom of the roster open with about 16M available. Not sure what Kevo wants to do here but let's take 4M off the top. Leaves you with 12M.

In 24-5, you need to pay Power and Dahlin. Not to mention Joker, Boosh, Krebs, UPL etc.

Let's tack on +6 for Power, +4 for Dahlin, +3 for Krebs, +3 for UPL (or other starter), +1 for Joker, +1 for Boosh or similar. That's a total of 18M. Need a 13th foward so let's say +1. 19M

I think a trade-extension for him is doable, but you're going to have a (frank) of a time improving the defense if you want to. However in 24-5, the cap should go up a lot, or so they say. If it rises to 87.5M you get an additional 5M from today. So for the projection above you're about 2M over.

Is Krebs no longer on the 4th line in your projection? It seems like only 2 forward positions open on the bottom line; whereas, you're saying 3.
