Imagine if we wouldve drafted Krappo instead of Hughes. We still would be bottom dwellers

Apparently Laf and Kakko are playing much better. They seem to be figuring it out.

Update on our top Russian prospects from AGM Dan MacKinnon:

Mukhamadullin: "Yeah, he's definitely coming over when his KHL season wraps up in Ufa. He's signed already. Plan is to get him right in with Utica, hopefully on a nice playoff run there. We're really excited about him. We watch all his games on video. What we see and what we hear is that he's taken another big step this year. We hope he comes over and adjusts quickly. We expect big things and for him to be an impact guy right away."

Gritsyuk: "Little bit of a different story. Was rookie of the year last year in the KHL. Smaller, skilled player. The thinking right now is that it can really benefit him, as a scoring forward, to continue to mature over there. Maybe spend another year or two. And we've seen that with guys like Kaprizov and Kuzmenko. For that type of player, sometimes its better for them to mature, then step right into your NHL roster. Probably not coming over right away."

Good info

I wonder what the plan is for Muk

We have Hamilton, Marino siegs signed
Hughes and nemec are close
And the devil's will look at re-signing graves or severson I'd imagine

I know not for next season but the following season as those defenders listed are all under contract

It's popped up from multiple people the past couple of days that one of the Devils backup plans if they miss out on Timo Meier is Brock Boeser.

Julie Robenhymer on the Bratt contract talks this past summer. Tweet one: "To clarify, Bratt’s agent was unwilling to negotiate. It was either a long term deal at the high price he wanted (more than Hughes) or a one year deal at a more reasonable number. Fitz wasn’t prepared to sign him to a big contact without a longer track record of production.

Tweet 2: "I’m not speculating. He asked for more than Jack. Fitzgerald said no and offered slightly less than Jack’s deal and he said no and ended negotiations. There was no discussion. It was a long term hefty contract or a one-year deal to prove himself and show he was worth the $$$$."

Wonder how much Fitz will put up with his agent come this summer, if at all. It was mentioned in the LeBrun article that Fitz still wants Bratt inbetween Nico and Jack, so still seems like they're far apart if his agent still wants him being the highest paid player on the team.

His agent is on drugs. Not getting that much more on the open market, and then he’ll have to leave his friends and relocate his life. Boo.

He already left his family to make millions of dollars, I think he'll be fine.

I think Jack and Nico set the precedent of if you want to win and play on an amazing team, you'll need to take a small paycut to accommodate more talent - 'team first'. And Fitz is building the team around that philosophy which is great and I think it might create a type of demand to play for Jersey. Maybe high end talent that wants to be a part of the special things happening here will leave $$ on the table to win and have fun.

All just a theory from me, but it does seem this way from the stuff I've heard from the Bratt contract situation.

If Bratt doesnt want that, which he is 110% entitled to, ship him out. We can get really nice pieces for him.

His agent is a pos and looking for a big commission from Bratts next contract. Bratt is his only big ticket player. Trade him for Meier straight up if he doesn’t commit to winning a cup with this team. Agents that have small number of clients feed players bullpoop to maximize payout.

FWIW, Bratt's longtime girlfriend is from Jersey - born and raised. Not sure if that will factor into equation or not, but just throwing it out there.

luckily Islanders trade for Horvat so we didn't have to get him by mistake.

Who knows, but people are saying the Sharks are asking for a huge return for Meier and that he's looking to make a huge amount on his next contract so I have a good feeling we're not going to get him.

If he goes to the Rangers we might as well start the rebuild again.
