Would you guys be ok with Fitz selling off a bunch of 1sr rounders, Holtz and prospects if we ended up with a cup this year? Or would you prefer the slow, steady approach?
EK65, Timo and Reilly all become Devils. But for cap reasons, multiple teams need to join in to eat up cap, meaning we'd hemorrhage our future, but a cup was guaranteed this year.
Would you do it? - Leniwm1
If we ended up with a Cup, of course. Most of our talent is young and signed, so I think we’ll be okay without Holtz, Stillman, Russian etc.

I really think we need to be “reckless and dumb” and go all-in for Meier. If they want Holtz give them Holtz. If Meier was 30 I’d feel different but the man is 26. If Bratt needs 9, give him freaking 9. Is he worth 10? Now we’re talking 2mil more per year than I think his value is. I think our cap will be pretty tight with Meier and Bratt; especially in a few years, so that 2mil or even 1mil is significant. Maybe another player we need to bring back (like Vanecek) will want an extra 1-2m, but since we overpay Bratt we can’t do it. It all comes from the same pool... but we really can’t lose Bratt for nothing. And Meier is exactly what this team needs to be a contender and not a hopeful bunch of kids with a sprinkle of Dougie Hamilton and Palat. |

Color me impressed with fall out boy there. He was actually singing, and better than I thought, despite that last song being taxing for anyone. Drums were live too. You could tell he was focusing on staying locked-in with the track. I think the guitar and bass were also live. Orchestra.. who knows. But I’ve seen way worse televised “live” performances |

Wonder if horvats deal will have any difference on Meier's next contract |

Sharks trade Megna for a 4th round pick. Now they are at 49 contracts. Gotta think Fitz wants this done sooner than later. |

Seeing as we need to send a deadweight contract back (Wood/Johnsson/etc.) we might need a 3rd team to facilitate taking on a contract if the Sharks don't move another body soon. |

If Sharangovich would end up going the other way as a ton of people propose, no cap dump is required to fit Meier. |

What site do you use for this kind of stuff? I usually look at the numbers on hockeybuzz. It's showing we have just a hair over 2M in space.. and Sharangovich is 2M and Holtz 894k. That totals to about 5mil, and Meier is 6. |

Meiers caphit will be pro-rated. If the trade happened today his caphit would be somewhere in the 2-3M range(I don't feel like doing all that math lol) and it would get slightly less and less the closer the trade happens to deadline day. |

It's how mid-season trades always are. Doesn't have anything to do with expiry status. Like Beauvillier for instance, who was in the Horvat trade, has a 4.15M cap hit but his prorated daily cap hit for the rest of the season for the Canucks is 1.66M. |

That’s why so many deals happen on trade deadline day. Saves money. |

I was thinking of the idea of abolishing the trade deadline.
Teams can make trades 24/7/365, yes even in the playoffs, meaning teams desperate to fill a hole in the playoffs will overpay, but it could get them the cup.
Is there a legit reason why there is a deadline? Because a trade freeze is only a few months (deadline to after the playoffs) so just get rid of that and there is potential for excitement from the fans perspective at any time.
If a team is willing to overpay in the playoffs, its their choice.
Teams that have an expiring UFA can hold on to him longer and potentially get assets come playoff time. |

Really like these lines and it is great to see Marino back in there. Really rounds out the blueline.
Has anyone done a wellness check on WOO?
