Draisaitl had 2 goals, 9 points, and was a - 17 through his first 37 NHL games. Not so clear trajectory.
- joel878

Good point. Draisaitl not a first overall pick, but did manage 51 points the next year. Not surprisingly in McDavid's rookie season. He probably would have scored more if McDavid wouldn't have been gooned by the two Flyers that mugged him in his rookie season.

They aren't bad - I can't buy from them because my son has a peanut allergy and they use peanut oil on their fries. I prefer the Works or Burgernator but I mostly go for Brunos sirloin burgers and they take less than 5 minutes on the BBQ. Did some last week.

Sorry for your confusion. I said one of the worst picks in the last 30 years. Has (frank) all to do with what was picked in 2022 really. Even so, we'll see, maybe he's a candidate to be offer sheeted by the Canes. The comparison is Slafkovsky to the other 30 guys on the list.
- winsix

Gotcha

So what you’re trying to say is that he’s one of the worst first picks in the last 30 years, which is different from what you actually said. All is cool and if that’s the case, then based on 39 games played I’m prepared to say definitely maybe, who knows.

Brunos is at Bayview and Weldrick in Richmond Hill. The other Brunos at Avenue Rd and 401 sells inferior burgers.

What I said (copied and pasted for you - to save you from going back and actually reading what was said and making an incorrect statement). More specifically one of the worst 1st overall picks in the last 30 years.

Worst five 1st overall picks in the last 30 years

1) Slack off ski
2) DiPietro
3) Yakapoo
4) Daigle
5) Stephan

Honorable mention Eric Johnson.

My favorite subject: Burgers
Licks (man I miss Licks)
Harveys
Five Guys (just cuz they're overpriced for a (frank)ing cheeseburger but it's good)
In N Out (maybe higher if the fries didn't suck)
Wendys
Burger King
McDonalds

In that order.

Least favorite subject: The Habs
"Montreal should've at least consider Wright". It's kinda the opposite of the Spatso argument about Matthews and Laine.

My opinion is that the Habs should've absolutely taken Wright. I always find top picked wingers, especially #1OAs, are riskier to pick than that true potential #1C. Not as much to JUDGE the young winger on versus a young center.

Sorry, it’s a silly argument about language and I now understand what you were saying.

To assess the “worst pick” you have to assess the decision made by the Habs and therefore compare who they chose against the other possible choices.

What you meant was the one of the worst players picked in the last 30 which only means comparing to other first picks.

Not worth continuing

Many; but it is interesting that the Leafs have picked first overall only twice since the draft began in 1963 - both were great picks IMO. Same number of 1st overalls as the Atlanta Thrashers, Nordiques had 3, Habs have had 6 so far - mostly bad, Lafleur being the big exception.

So I now have uncrested home and away Leafs jerseys. I'm thinking Nylander for the home, and Nylander for the away.

Does one have a glory hole in the back? If so, make that one Nylander for sure.

Despite a solid game from Samsonov, the Leafs do not do well against teams that play in the gutter. Run the goalie is not in the DNA of the Leafs, and the coach will not respond in a meaningful way to teams that apply this tactic.
- winsix

So why is Wayne Simmonds still on this roster? What is he doing out there, if he's not taking care of those who run our goalie or star player? Simmonds was a spent force, two year ago, but for some reason, he made more money than Spezza and had double the term. I'd rather have Spezza still on this roster, than Simmonds.
