He'll never clear for sure. Habs need help.
- Leafsmart

He might not clear - but do you really think that the Habs want to get better right now? I think they will be happy to win every game against the Leafs and Bruins and lose all the rest for a higher pick.

i’m intrigued😍👍🏿

did they talk about my size (6’5 245), athleticism (complete domination in every sport i played including hockey at age 36)? 👍

my military career defending you all from russia, the talibans and the isises (highly decorated airborne ranger delta force scout swimmer jumpmaster)?👍🏿

or my nhl acumen where i can foresee laff losses for any important game because they don’t dress enough grown men who can bang bodies and pull lawnmowers when the rubber meets the road👍

or did they talk about all 5 of these intriguing topics 😮👍🏿🥰?

Unfortunately not

Only that they need more toughness in top 6

Aka “fire and emotion”

Agree. This may or may not help poopbag teams from game winning helmet celebrations when beating the Leafs.

Leafs should hire Boudreau. Tocchet is a douchebag and convicted criminal. Fits in well with the owner and GM.

Who was the obvious pick the Habs missed last year?

Shane Wright. Only reason he's not playing on the Kraken is their position in the standings. He's 10 points in 5 games in the OHL, 7 points in the world juniors in 7 games, Captain of the team. Habs will regret passing on Wright. On a poop team like the Habs, Wright would be have been playing top six minutes from game one.

I never understood statements like these, as if you already knew how good of a career Wright will have, and how huge of a failure Slafkovsky will be. you're entitled to your own opinion but this makes no sense to me, unless it simply comes from a strong habs hate bias lol.

It was a crappy draft and a crap shoot because of the lost year. Nobody has emerged as a great pick so pretty hard to identify one of the worst picks ever

No bias on this one Pat, Slafkovshy has 10 points and is -13 in 39 games with the Habs. The only highlights I've seen of him to date are him being hit really hard by opponents. Yakupov scored 24 points in 48 games in his rookie season, Daigle scored 51 points in his rookie season. Fairly clear trajectory

Won't disagree with that. But this pick in lets call it an off year was an off the board pick - Wright was the top C available on most lists I saw. It reminded me of Habs picking Kotkaniemi over Tkachuk. Hard to argue that wasn't a dreadful pick.

so, at 18 years old, after playing a grand total of 39 NHL games, you're already able to determine he's on a "clear trajectory", the same as Yakupov and Daigle...? cool beans lol.

still makes zero sense to me, but hey, you have your own convictions about what the future holds, and I'm not gonna argue with you on that because it would be pointless.

Dangle was one of the worst picks because Pronger was sitting there. If Slafkovsky is one of the worst picks there needs to be some obvious missed pick. There isn’t. Maybe Wright turns into something. Maybe Cooley does but maybe he never signs with Arizona.

biases aren't such a bad thing, especially when you're able to acknowledge them, sometimes it's even fun to embrace them. in part it's what made me enjoy last night's win a bit more

I clearly watch fewer Hab games than you do, yet I've seen Slafkovsky hit really hard at least three times this season. Not sure how many concussions. Troubling no?

uh, he's had zero concussions to my knowledge. sure he hasn't racked up a bunch of points but he's shown some really nice things as well, it isn't like he's just this clumsy player that gets hit and doesn't bring anything else to the team, wtf. but like I'm saying, trying to convince you that he actually has a lot of potential would be useless, as you obviously already have a strong opinion about him...

I've said it before I am a Leaf fan first and a hockey fan second. That said, I've always admired great hockey skill and players. I could never understand how fans could boo great hockey players. I've seen players like Orr, Gretzky, Lafleur, Lemieux play live and all were booed (not by me!) Pretty sure Matthews was booed every time he touched the puck last night. Also I am well aware of my bias, as to other teams, I have equal contempt for all teams that are not the Leafs. And finally, it is unfortunate that you will not have much enjoyment this season.

oh for sure, they definitely aren't always fun to watch. but they've had a lot of good games as well, and compared to last year's cluster(frank) there's a lot of positive to look at.

he did go through the concussion protocol but he cleared it. not sure how you're supposed to diagnose one just by looking at videos...? anyway he did struggle a bit with keeping his head up but he's worked on that and seemed to have basically gotten rid of that issue before getting injured (it's a lower-body injury, a player fell on his leg, nothing to do with concussions lol).

Agree - early to say with conviction at this point. But also rather easy to say that Brady Tkachuk>Kotkaniemi. Wright looked really good winning a gold medal for Canada.

ej seems kind of interchangeable with luke schenn

expectations were too high and no development based on their draft positions

i’ll put this on the presidents and gms
