Thanks, Totem....... Have Korchinski and Allen, especially Korchinski, shown you anything different since the WJC? More confidence, swagger, poise, bad habits?
Rinzel and the Waterloo Blackhawks came into Chicago with their newly acquired ANA 3rd rd pick, Mikko Mitikka, on a 7 game run and beat the 1st place Steel 5-4. WTL down 4-1 to start the 3rd, and 4-2 with 2:45 to go, won 5-4 in regulation.
Rinzel factored into 2 of the 3rd period goals taking open space without the puck down to the dot, taking a pass and snapping one off high to make it 4-2. With 40 seconds left he got a puck thru on a wrister to make it 4-4.... He took 5 of Loo's 48 shots and was a +3.
Kid was 2nd unit PP but down with the goalie pulled he was part of a 6 man attack. Kid showed the skating and reach he always does. Still a work in progress but even a novice eye can see his size and skating..... Hopefully WTL goes on a deep playoff run so the kid gets some playoff experience before heading to U of Minnesota next yr.
Korchinski seems to be the same as before the WJC, he is almost always in the right place and on offense he is making good passes and piling up the assists. I think he could shoot a little more. He really needs to move up one level, but not two. Maybe he will get the 10 games in CHI next year, plus WJCs again, along with coming back to Seattle .
Or he could get the full Shane Wright odyssey tour:

Allan has looked a little out of sorts both before and after WJC. He was traded, played some on the right side in Seattle, went to WJC right after the trade, etc. Seems like he starts a little slowly and gets better as the game goes along. It looks like Seattle will plug him in at 2LD now and maybe things will stabilize for him (they traded for Luke Prokop to add a RD). Wonder if next year they will pair him up with Del Mastro in Rockford. |

I'm just glad he's playing well and was considered one of the best dmen to play for team Canada. I believe he will be nurtured by the org to refine his craft in the lower leagues |

So did Boqvist score?
Other:
Did Anisinov sign somewhere- overseas or is it AHL. Imagine in playoffs Nashville recalls Askarov and Anisinov. They pick up Athanasiou

Boilermaker always love your posts— you are right on that but the reality is Bettman was never going to let us get number 1 overall… I think we all should get to the reality that it’s not going to happen and the fact that Kane and Toews are not going to waive their no movement clause… unless they are gonna sign for 4 million per… we’re going back to 96 when I could get in for 8 bucks and talk to people across the UC with 5000 people in the stands |

Hahaha, they are playing well, congrats to Staubner for his first career NHL win
Wonder if they have a card board cut out of KD in the locker room

I hope that Bettman rigs the lottery in Chicago's favor just to stick it to everyone who says he's rigging it against Chicago because of the Beach incident. |

You know they never committed to a rebuild back then, Bill just didn't care anymore, got old and as old people do thought anyone and everyone was to expensive.
Bill would of never signed Hossa for that kind of money |

Korchinski looked passable in his brief preseason games. I know preseason is a different animal of not real NHL hockey, but Korchinski had no trouble with the speed at this level. I’d take him over anyone not named Jones right now. Another year in juniors does him little good IMO |

I cannot keep overstating that after Connor Bedard, and then some front runners, there are plenty of players that will be taken in slots # 5-12 that after further maturation, might be be considered equals to all the names in that second tier after Bedard. Don't get hung up on the top 4
Some teams will not pass on the Russian at #2
(Especially because Fantilli poop the bed at world junior.... when you were wondering about the Swede. Carlsson or the Russian Michkov. (It took Ovi a year before he made the trip across the pond and it took Malkin two season after his draft.) Oh, the Ukrainian War? Didn’t players make their way over during the Cold War?
BTW, Carlsson (and Salé were sick the entire first part of the tourney and then looked so good and smart and skilled by the end.
I think Fantilli only distanced himself by yet another mile from Connor Bedard. (Sure, …he will be a pro, maybe next year.) I don't know if Fantilli didn't get the way you play in a tournament, and he WAS asked to play a wing, something he never has done, ever. )Sure, he has speed, size, strength, and a shot (all the things JIm likes). he seemed to be playing in a hurray in areas where there wasn't a rush to execute.
Sorry, the College scoring phenom in competition for the Hobey Baker award
He needs lots of work on parts of his game.
He needed low down and move the puck between the group.
He consistently turned the puck over in the defensive zone.
He was horrendous defensively most of the tourney.
First game, he tries the "Michigan" and I know I sound like the Philly Coach, but the game just started!
In teh samer game he completely lost th pointman who scored the Czech's tying goal.
Took a stupid dangerous kneeing penalty.
Pressed and continued to play as individualistic as possible. It just increased doubts that he was ready to advance to the best league in the world, where fast 4th lines, playing as teammates beat the Blues last night...as an example.
So draft slots except number one are not set.
And the players like Salé, Dvorsky, Barlow, Will Smith, Benson, and Yager (who has really underperformed so far with chicks in the armor showing…) and the others in that top ten, may end up in a few as BETTER players than some selected above.
Fact:
Carlsson needs time. Michkov IS the second best player in the class and Fantilli has no hold on slot two. (No matter what MY list or any non NHL scouting staff "reveals.") |

Hahaha, Sutter is great - BetweenTheDots
One of the second generation NHLer son prospects is former NHL goalie Jason Muzzatti's son a 6' 6" defenseman, names Sutter Muzzatti, a 3rd year eligible as is Bryan Smolinski's son, Max.

Great stuff. We’ll see if Fantilli gets his ego in check by the time the frozen four rolls around. I agree that Michkov is the second best player in this draft. I think people are doing mental gymnastics trying to justify taking Fantilli or even Carlson, who wasn’t in the conversation until weeks ago, simply because they want to have something to watch next year. It was always Bedard/Michkov before this year’s season started. And the Russian’s highlight reel has only gotten longer, he has some sick hands.
Wiz, who do you like after the ‘top four’? |
