RW probably would have bottomed out this team faster than Rutherford.

Both articles talk about all this cap space, but you still have to sign Jarry. Meier and Smith for Zucker and Dumoulin essentially is a cheap upgrade, but one that still eats a little over 1M cap space. Then you have to pay Jarry, and you still have the same bottom six problem you started with next year. So essentially 3 firsts and you likely ended your competitive window after this year. Brilliant!

What are Rust or Zucker alone going to do for the third line if they're playing with the likes of Carter and Kapanen?

I like Meier I think he would be the perfect player to acquire. He could push play for years to come and is a young talent who could be the next wave for us. I think a justification could be made to acquire him for picks and prospects since he has some youth. Him and Bertuzzi I have been hoping this team would acquire (before the Rakell trade).
