Trevor statistics or analytics as hockey analysis like to call it don't lie, but people use them to fit their own agenda. When you claimed the Oilers had the fifth worse goals against in the league you used the stats from pre-Christmas (which they never were). So I corrected you and indicated that in fact they have been in top 5 (tied with Seattle) but are now even above that team with the results of their last two games. You like to insult other teams especially the Oilers which is fine, but get your information correct or be accused of miss use of analytics just to further your opinion. Some of the worse miss information use as Trump used to claim.
- OilerKing

Yeah, I guess you're right. When trying to analyze data or stats, you really want to try and look at as small a sample size as possible. Touché. Sorry for doubting you.

Squeaky not as small as possible but Relevant as possible. Trevor used old stats to make point. The current stats for all teams mention would have been appropriate. For example the current stats fo both teams in tonights game. Since Christmas both teams have played well. Tampa is 9-2 and Edmonton is 7-3-1. Tampa sits fourth in 5×5 goals against/game at 1.45 and Edmonton is sixth at 1.54. Edmonton is tied for second in 5×5 goals for/game at 2.82 while Tampa is tied for ninth at 2.36.

I predict the Flames will not pass the Oil again in the standings rest of the season.

Possibly but hate to say it the Flames are better than their record shows. Sutter needs to pull his head out of his ass and start making smart choices with the lineup. Treliving must be pulling his hair out watching some of the sh!t Sutter does with this roster. Sutter praises everyone in the league but his own club. Guy is a (frank)ing clown Boudreau would have the Flames on a 12 game heater in no time...

You are probably right. The players do not seem to be buying into what Darryl is selling.

Does not change the fact that you are an idiot!

I know the Flames aren't poop but they aren't playing well and the Oil have a 4 point lead and a stretch of 10 games or so coming up playing bottom feeders. They should be able to widen the gap.

The Flames have been playing fine. If Markstrom was playing anything close to good Markstrom or even average Markstrom, the Flames would be at the top of the division. If Markstom isn't letting in a bad goal a game, that changes a lot of their OT and one-goal losses.

I don't know if you've ever seen a Darryl Sutter coached team, but they are playing exactly how he wants his teams to play. They've bought in 100%.

You got that right the Flames flat out are terrible. Treliving will be fired by season end and Sutter will take over as GM.

I have seen many DS teams play. Where my point goes is that the team is lacking the intensity needed to get the job done. Too many vets that are too comfortable. Sutter needs to sit some of these vets. It will never happen, but we will see different results with players willing to sacrifice to win,

If you're relying on players to sacrifice to win in January, you won't be playing in June.

They've been playing Sutter hockey. If Markstrom had been doing his job, there'd be very little to complain about.

Thanks Trevor.

Generally speaking Flames fans are a slower than fans of teams like Nashville and Colorado.
There are three main ways to nullify speed, one being laying the body, two winning face-offs to limit puck possession time, and three cultivating some young rookie legs to match speed with speed.
There seems to very little interest in plan three.
In the Nashville game they out hit us 30 to 28 and totally out classed in the face-off circle and Kadri had more hits than the entire fourth line combined.
There is something missing and for starters we desperately need to establish an identity toward incorporating some young hungry talent judged on ability not size!

That trade for Vladar is looking pretty lopsided right now. 8-0-3 in his last 11.

And in those 10 games we'll see how the Oilers do. they tend to play to the reputation of their competition. Has been a trend since about 88. Mail it in vs the weaker teams. let's see if they actually come out to play vs the "weaker" teams this time around. Or just once again, barely show up and hope MCjesus and Drai can find it in the third.

It's obvious that Sutter prefers to play veterans regardless of their skill sets. But we should be careful how we address the media about young players, it could work against us eventually.

I’ve heard that Brad may be in line for Bettman job. He’s been a fairly competent GM but hasn’t had enough success in the post season,
Sutter was a disaster last time he was GM, giving him even more power would guarantee a roster of old guys.
