well you threw 3 RD at me and one is blah, spence

johnson plays LD

thanks for making my case though

- homiedclown

Spence isn't blah and can add Brandt Clarke, all will be firmly ahead of Johnson in TOI. Doesn't matter what handedness he is as he plays both sides, but those guys are more than speed bumps in his way...additionally Walker and Roy are still owed for another year. They have six NHL defenders for next year and Anderson as a scratch. Again, doubtful he goes there unless he truly is a Daddy's boy.

They have nothing to do with Johnson, but they are one of a few teams that have a over abundance of RD. Wouldn't mind a Johnson for Grans swap, but LA really doesn't need to do that.
- Buff36

Ryan plays both sides, so I think he's competing against whoever the best D on the team are. Those three and Clarke will take the lion's share of the minutes even if he somehow makes the team, which he likely wouldn't. I just can't imagine him declining sure fire NHL offers this summer, for AHL minutes to be around Daddy.

I’m shocked the guy they couldn’t move at the deadline this year is having trouble finding a team that wants him.

Maybe they should re-sign him and try again next year?

That was their big forward add. Re-sign a guy who shot over expected last year and act surprised he can’t score and you can’t move him.

Ok I'll bite, which of those two is NHL ready?

Levi is a couple years away from starting and RyJo took a step backwards this year IMO.

Johnson could be a 6 7 for us. If not....geesh.

I'm going to go ahead and guess we see Dahlin/Joker and Power/Samuelsson tomorrow. Power is a -8 in the last 5 games. Some people say +/- isn't a good stat. I say it's a fantastic stat for defensemen. No stat is perfect, but it's a darn good one for defense. Power looks absolutely clueless in his own end, and he lacks the power to clean guys out at this point in his career. Joker is way too small to partner with him, but Joker and Dahlin can probably play a good enough possession game to exist together.

I mean w/e for Power. He's way too young to judge, but he's being abused right now. Nobody his age should log those minutes. The coaching staff needs to protect him. He can't sniff 25+ minutes anymore.

Thank you. I totally thought we were playing tomorrow.

Thank god it's Chicago. Not because they're trash, but because they will play a horse race with us. I like our chances in a horse race with any team.

Sometimes, we even convince Minnesota, Boston, Edmonton, etc... to play horserace with us. That's going to be our best best the rest of the season. We're not all the sudden going to change our spots. The truly disciplined teams will play us tight, but sometimes we'll even get them to open the barn doors.

We should really concentrate on being 100% at puck drop. If can somehow get a quick 2 goals on a team... then we force them to play our game.

There fine, Samuelsson Power and Dahlin will be fine playing 85-90min a game.

We currently have the youngest D core in the league by a mile. Not saying I’m opposed to Johnson stepping in, but we need some seasoned leadership to pair with these guys. I’m fine with Dahlin/Samuelson.
Maybe Joker/Johnson and get a vet to play with Power?

I'm worried about Power's confidence. I don't want him to start looking at box scores and seeing bunch of dash somethings every night.

Agreed. We need to find him a stable partner so she can make mistakes and not suffer every time he does

Then get him a good Vet partner and let him grow into his game, instead of rushing him to 23min a night. Think they would have learned with Dahlin.

Agreed. In the mean time though Sammy and minutes have to protect him. Dahlin can carry Joker.
