Player friendly deal, heavy on vibes.

Maybe a little about the cap floor too.

Pretty much, anyone could have had him for Futures, Cap makes it hard. Sabres should use that, but they won't.

Curious how far the team is allowed to go on the salary/budget topic.

- Retain 50%?
- Take on a player with a bloated cap for the remainder of this season?
- Take on a player with a higher cap than Vinnie who has this season and next on his deal, and is potentially never going to play again?

- kingcong39

I don't know, but doesn't look like he was given the OK to do any of that.

He's looking at league minimum or a PTO next year...and that might be all he would have gotten last year, if KA wasn't so generous.
- Lunaion

Sounds silly to get up in arms over Hinostroza

But his 3 UFA adds cost 6.3 mil and have provided negative value relative to those cap hits

Johnson will get a 2 year ELC either way, based on turning 22 this year. He'd have the opportunity to burn a year in Buffalo. He could potentially get more bonus money as a UFA, within the ELC limits.
- Lunaion

Johnson like Portillo are not signing in Buffalo, make zero sense for them to sign now, they are both better off going to FA and making more money.

They told us they were able to sign Vinny because the were confident moving Girgs back to C. That will always be a punchline.

Just laying out the facts. They are getting ELC's either way.

As one would expect, very well said by Ryan Miller. He always got it. Crotchety old man or not, he was a proud Buffalonian.

The Sabres can just as easily take 50% and the opposing team can get him for less than a million. All without having to pay him next year.

Other teams must not build their teams around vibes and if the player likes the community?

Hammer Dahlin. I'm guessing he's still pissed about Chicago. Looking for him to be a monster tonight.

I'm not sure why the paper moves bother posters? Not just you, posters in general.

Kinda seems bill billicheat like. We're getting away with something, using the system.... for a change

I'm sure it motivates these guys as well. Paper or not.

Query: Don't they have standard entry level contracts that make it so whatever they get from another team will be pretty much what they can get from Buffalo? Even if they are free agents? I don't know the answer to this question but I thought that was the case.

There is not their and neither is they're.

There is an adverb. It means:
1. At or in that place.
2. To, into, or toward that place.
3. At that stage, moment, or point.

"I went over there." "There is one great hockey player."

Their is an adjective that modifies a noun and works like his, hers or its.
"That is their home." "Their favorite team is the Sabres."

They're is a contraction of "They are"
"They're in need of an experienced and effective 2D to put with Power."

Sorry but it makes me even wackier than I already am to see so many of the people on here who write "their" posts with one of these errors. "They're" lacking in basic English skills it seems. This probably won't stop this from happening all the time but it seems that "there" is no better way to try to curb the incessant misuse than to annoy people by pointing it out.

I know, no one cares.

In addition to Boyer, the Dolphins also fired safeties coach Steve Gregory, outside linebackers coach Ty McKenzie and assistant linebackers coach Steve Ferentz.

Very true Boss, but a team 18mill under the Cap should be able to find away to get rid of a player if need be, by buy out or retaining. The Sabres don't want to do that so here we are.
