Johnson could be a 6 7 for us. If not....geesh.

Johnson would instantly become the 5th best Man in the organization.

If he signs with us isn’t he under a ELC for 3 years as opposed to being a free agent and gaining a better contract immediately? Plus odds are we will be going hard this upcoming draft/off-season for help at the blue line so his standings could fall pretty quickly here too.

why does it make no sense that his father might offer him a contract? These things happen it’s human nature.

Lastly wouldn’t you always take another good prospect regardless of how many you already have? There are no guarantees when it comes to prospects, I feel it’s always wise to grab as many good ones as possible.

What’s your thoughts?

Johnson will get a 2 year ELC either way, based on turning 22 this year. He'd have the opportunity to burn a year in Buffalo. He could potentially get more bonus money as a UFA, within the ELC limits.

would he get to UFA (post ELC) status sooner if he signed in Buffalo this spring and finished the season here? as opposed to waiting till august to sign a ELC?

Wouldnt the fact that the bruins are in our division skew this number a lot?

There is not their and neither is they're.

There is an adverb. It means:
1. At or in that place.
2. To, into, or toward that place.
3. At that stage, moment, or point.

"I went over there." "There is one great hockey player."

Their is an adjective that modifies a noun and works like his, hers or its.
"That is their home." "Their favorite team is the Sabres."

They're is a contraction of "They are"
"They're in need of an experienced and effective 2D to put with Power."

Sorry but it makes me even wackier than I already am to see so many of the people on here who write "their" posts with one of these errors. "They're" lacking in basic English skills it seems. This probably won't stop this from happening all the time but it seems that "there" is no better way to try to curb the incessant misuse than to annoy people by pointing it out.

I know, no one cares.

No, the season wouldn't count towards UFA. At his age, he's not going to hit UFA until 27 anyways.

Looks like Vinnie cleared waivers. That's gotta be humbling for a pro athlete

Maybe a little, but doubt he was expecting to be claimed. He knows the situation.

Imagine his salary has something to do with clearing waivers

Twitter suggested a buy out, so he can play where he wants.

Still doesn't make him a better hockey player though.

Hinostrova cleared.

With how much money he is making. I would not want to terminate the deal. Play and roch and cash out.

I don’t think he will ever get paid that much again

One way deal, 1.7m. Why? I have no idea.

The Sabres can just as easily take 50% and the opposing team can get him for less than a million. All without having to pay him next year.

Curious if they made it known to teams when looking to trade him, that they'd retain 50% to help facilitate the trade.

I am fine with the deal Adams signed him for. It’s 1 year and we have loads of cap space.

I don’t fault for hinostoza for signing that deal and don’t blame Adams either

I would gladly play in roch and make that money. He won’t get paid like that anywhere else.

He signs somewhere next year for 800 to 1 mill at most

Buy out isn't an option.

They could assign him to another team, the Moulson treatment.

He's looking at league minimum or a PTO next year...and that might be all he would have gotten last year, if KA wasn't so generous.

Pretty much, anyone could have had him for Futures, Cap makes it hard. Sabres should use that, but they won't.

Curious how far the team is allowed to go on the salary/budget topic.

- Retain 50%?
- Take on a player with a bloated cap for the remainder of this season?
- Take on a player with a higher cap than Vinnie who has this season and next on his deal, and is potentially never going to play again?
