Zez, the table was already set for Dubas. He's simply rearranged some deck chairs around the core pieces. Good reg season style teams. - fifty__missions
I think you're wrong, there's been many decisions since he was hired. The table was set for the Panthers and Oilers too - what happened?
I also think the good regular season style team assessment is wrong because their series have been razor close.

Deck chair John Tavares scored 47 goals the year Dubas signed him and has been pretty much point a game since then.
Top goals scorers the year before

My magic formula for playoff success is:
1. Goaltending has to remain good
2. Rielly-Brodie pairing has to find its groove
and
3. The big 4 have to translate reg season to playoff success.
Fingers crossed on 1 and 2 ..nothing we can do but hope it works. I think they add a LW/C into the top 6 to help make number 3 come true.
Enjoy the ride. - The Law
There’s very little (frank) up room anywhere vs TB. Can’t afford to have bottom six caved in and need all 3 pairings to play pretty much strong equal minutes.

The easy run came and went when Montreal stormed back and fluked their way through everyone. Time to either beat the best or just be the Minnesota Vikings and deal with it.
Caps had to try to beat the Penguins like 7 times before they finally got past them.

St. Louis also had to bang away for a long time until Bozak arrived.
This is the year. I got plenty of space on the bandwagon for when the part-time supporters are ready.
Holl - I guess that's fair. I disagree, but that's fair.
Kerfoot - nah, he's perfectly fine right now in the bottom six. In fact he's playing 4th line centre the last week ...nothing wrong with that. - The Law
I agree that Kerfoot is a bottom 6 winger who is below average when playing C and shouldn't be relied upon to play important minutes in the playoffs.

Is the real reason everyone is worried about Dubas' future is because if he goes then 34 is gone and too? I care more about Matthews' cobtract. - Tee-Dot
More worried that there really aren't any "star" replacements out there and that sometimes the grass is not always greener, the green was just poop from somebody eating a lot of folate like in Vancouver.

The table wasnt set for either of those teams.
Outside of mcjesus and drysaddle, the oilers were a mess and still kinda are in spots.
"Close"...awesome. If it were the habs or sens that had mirrored what the leafs had done the past 5 years with the core they have, all leafs fans would be saying, "good reg season team but not a playoff team"....and a plethora of other insults.
But the leafs cant choke in the playoffs forever, this year they get past the 1st round....im thinking even into the 3rd.

I dont believe its that simple. He could sign an extension with a new gm (if dubas moves on).
I think its about results.....and money.

He won’t stay just because of Dubas. But this off-season is big and it would be a bit g distraction if there was a GM search, getting a new guy up to speed.

I agree. I just think that you need to take a broader look at the idea of results than to only look at playoff outcomes. That’s a factor but one of a bunch of factors.

We've heard "this off season is big" the past two.
Getting someone up to speed wouldnt take long at all. Chances are, if they were to move on from Dubas, they would already have names or a name in mind.
