After 50 years, John Foggerty gets worldwide publishing control of his Creedence songs. He ended up having to buy them. The owner of the original label that signed CCR to a terrible deal used the profits to produce the movies Amadeus, One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest and the English Patient.

His name was Saul Zaentz (died in 2014) he was a total douchebag - sued (or tried to sue and lost) John Fogerty for plagiarism from Fogerty's own music. In Fogerty's big comeback album Centerfield, he wrote a song called Zanz Can't Dance, for which he was sued for defamation by Zaentz - settled out of court so he changed the title to Vanz Can't Dance. I've got a copy of the original album prior to the title change - its rare.

I knew about the plagiarism suit but I had never heard this song. The guy was (frank)ed over for so long but kept fighting even though it cost him more money than he would ever hope to win back. A lot of musicians owe him a lot of gratitude. Saw him at Ontario Place. His voice held up pretty well and he put on a good show.
