If that’s the nail in the Staley coffin, then the entire AFC lost today if Sean Payton and Vic Fangio end up there.

Yeah right. Hopefully it would mean to finally have another good team in AFC West to compete with the Chiefs. Been years of pushovers.

The Chargers were no slouch this year.

I feel they would have had a better chance to beat the Chiefs next week then the Jags do.

Time will tell I guess.

Nice win last night. Kid line looked good and nice to see Olofsson waking up. Makes us a better team when this version shows up.

No one was stopping the dude in the 2nd half. He had a party at the moon tower to get to, and he wasn't showing up a loser.

Another example of why I wouldn't trade the first round pick in the upcoming draft.

https://www.tankathon.com...hl/players/gabe-perreault

Gabe Perreault, yes, son of Yanic and brother of Jacob, has been a scoring monster.

Plus he's a late birthday (May), and he's still adding weight, while being able to play multiple forward positions.

He's slated to go to Pitt, which would be one of the last 2 playoff positions, but he's mocked lower in other rankings.

He'd be a big time addition to the Sabres deep prospect pool.

Yeah I like him, think the USNDP has come a long way. Trading this years 1st would have to be a slam dunk trade IMO. Even if he's gone say around there, it's actually a good place for D to start coming around at that spot of the draft. Depending on what mode Adams is in which seems like draft and development. Might be a good idea to keep those early 2nds. Be a plethora of D at that point.

So, we'd see him in 4 seasons?

There's not a pick or prospect in this organization who should be viewed as anything more than an asset to acquire NHL assets now. Perhaps Levi can be viewed differently, but he's 2 seasons from being a good NHL goalie IF WE'RE LUCKY.

I can't even wrap my head around being worried about our 1st this season, next season, or the season after that. We need 25+ year-olds on this team. We don't need more children.

When the Sabres are spending near the cap at that point, they're going to need multiple players on ELC deals to be able to be a deep, talented team.

I can't wrap my head around people not understanding that.

And they can start drafting them three years from now. Dahls... ten more years of prime. Power 12. Cozens 10. Quinn 11. Peterka 11. Tage 7 or 8. Sammy a bunch.

You have Skinner and Vic as the only two guys who, in 5 years, you will absolutely need to replace.

If they start drafting them 3 years from now, they're not playing until all the players they've banking on now are 30.

Too late at that point.

This is the last draft, for me, where I'm no doubt keeping the first round pick, and keeping as many of the 2nds as possible.

It's full on go time after this upcoming draft.

That's not how you build a sustainable future. Sabres aren't gonna be able to afford everyone if they all hit there ceilings. And you ALWAYS try to get better no matter what you have in Front of you.

That's about what I would like. If Adams is building the Boston Bruins here (and he damn well better be for a slow as he's going) we're going to be riding all these (currently) young horses until they're old studs. Look how ancient Boston is. They keep rotating spare parts around the same core of brilliant players.

I'd like to try getting better by bringing in some veterans to make the playoffs. Matt Savoie does absolutely nothing for me now. Absolutely nothing for me next year. And, is a rookie after that doing who knows what. He could be turned into so much better for the organization.

If the Sabres are sniffing around at the trade deadline I would be really pissed if Adams didn't atleast throw them a bone. But he had opportunities in season that could have helped and didn't do anything. It looks to me he's riding this ship out and seeing how these kids react. So you might as well take 1 more year and balance your prospect pool and draft some size and some Dman, and go to the next phase.

Yes sir, that is all I am saying.

This is the last draft to stockpile for me.

After the upcoming draft, I'm looking at any and all possibilities to upgrade, whether that be free agency, trades, or even offer sheets.

The first key point of the season for management to assess where the team is at is coming up in a couple weeks: the all star break.

Why can't we trade one of our half dozen small forwards for a D prospect? These things are all fungible assets to me. If we need D prospects find someone who needs F prospects and make it happen.

Unless we're getting Bedard there's nothing in this draft that going to help us make the playoffs next year. Unless we're top 3 there's nothing helping us the year after. And, of course, these are all lotto tickets. Many wont pan out at all. If i can start cashing lotto tickets for NHL players this offseason or dealine it's time to reward the fanbase and the NHL team.

Nobody said we can't, the Sabres have the ammunition to do both. They can go buy pretty much anyone they wanted and it probably would only put a scratch in there forward prospects. You can draft and trade at the same time, Sabres are one team that has the assets to do both.
