it's funny because Haula scored only after he was moved off of Hughes' line.

can only imagine what Hughes numbers would be if he had at least 1 real winger he played with...impressive what they are now considering

A game where Haula isn't playing with Hughes. I never thought I'd see this day.

They seem to be lacking energy today. Very lax.

Definitely didn't have much energy today for chunks throughout the game, but kind of understandable since it was the 3rd game in essentially less than 4 days after traveling cross country. Did just enough though, so we take it. Multiple guys had arguably their worst games of the season(Dougie and Jack in particular were off), and passing as a whole for the entire team was just bad all game.

These games happen though, glad they fought and found a way to steal 2 points.

Kinda funny that they're 7-1-1 in their last 9, including a 5 game win streak, but their overall play and underlying numbers are significantly worse than when they had their 1-7-1 stretch right before this. Funny how these things even out.

If I could figure out how to post an image here I'd show Todd Cordell's 5 on 5 shot chart. Jack blew it up in the third.

From Infernal Access... "On a night Hughes did next to nothing – especially by his standards – for 40 minutes, he ended up leading the team in attempts (11), shots (7), chances (6), high-danger chances (4), and shot contributions."

I was amazed to see this. Also, I highly recommend subscribing. It's the best Devils coverage anywhere.

Absolutely, by far the best coverage of the team. Been subscribed to him ever since he left hockeybuzz. His discord is great too. Very analytical though, so I imagine some here would just scoff at most of what is talked about

The entire team turned it around the 3rd period, specifically in the final 10 minutes. That's the bonus of having a superstar like Jack though, he could play very poorly for two periods and make a ton of mistakes, then just flip a switch and take over on any given shift. Still feels great knowing we signed him for only 8M a year lol, total steal.

Seravalli on the DFO Rundown mentioned that the Devils may be in the market for a goalie, looking for a backup

A backup for Blackwood or is Blackie getting shipped out? Or they will carry 3 goalies in case someone goes down?

You'd have to think that Fitz is looking to use Blackwood as trade bait to one of the teams who have horrible goaltending to get a winger then a backup for Vitek.

He didnt specifically say anything about Blackwood being shipped out or if they'd run 3 goalies, but later in the conversation he quickly mentioned they're trying to find someone to play with Vanecek. Also said the Devils should've just cut ties with Blackwood last summer, saying they didnt trust him back then.
