I understand they will move some picks and possibly players for rentals this year if they feel like they’re close. My biggest opposition to Kane is the cost it’s going to take to get him and he guarantees us NOTHING. I’m actually a big believer a big acquisition like that can mess with the chemistry and flow a team has built the entire season and the better way to go is role players like we did last year. FLA got Giroux and Chiarot and went nowhere last year.

I think, if done right, we have a 5-8 year window of competing for a cup. Trading away guys like Cuyelle Othmann Kravtsov etc for a 34 year old past his prime is a mistake this organization will regret.

It’s an impossible call to make. If you trade for a kane type and don’t win it’s a disaster. If you don’t make the trade and don’t win it’s a bad look. You said it, kane guarantees nothing. Nothing is guaranteed no matter what anybody does. Just pick an outcome you want and enjoy the ride.

It did happen and I’d think the org believes they could be one or two players away based on that outcome. Not trying to fight, just saying I see things differently I guess

To be honest, my biggest concern with kane has nothing to do with hockey. Personally, the cabbie assault and the other thing I won’t bring up because it’ll just be a poop show in here are things that make me not want him on my team. Don’t wanna root for a guy like that. I get why others may not care (separating the art from the artist and whatnot). Just not able to get past that myself

I could see Laf being the one who goes, based on the LW thing and Othmann next up specifically. I don’t think they’d just willingly get rid of him, but that they’d come up with a deal that made sense, ie-not for a UFA like Kane. Maybe chychrun. Someone with term that won’t break the bank.
