I grew up with Sam & JD. They were fantastic together. I will always have great memories of them announcing games, but I think Sam should probably retire. imo - mdw7413
Oh yeah, but Butch is hilarious cause he has no idea whats going on and can never pronounce anyones name. I agree with the pickle, Pens and Boston so much worse. - mdw7413
I went to college/grad school in Albany and MSG would always show the Buffalo feed when they played each other. 6 years of that wienerhead screaming in pure joy whenever the Sabres did something as mundane as getting the puck over the blue line and borderline whispering when the Rangers scored

Yes. - tomburton99
JD was probably my favorite announcer ever. Always called it like he saw it, but you knew he loved the Rangers. "Call the cops, someone stole the Rangers legs."

I say this often, but he’s probably my fav Ranger person of all time, regardless of who I remember playing or not. It really hurt when they fired him. It was like I got divorce papers

I think my favorite clip was when he called out Stevens interference on Kariya in the 2003 SCF. Ahead of his time with that.

There were worse ones overall but Stevens was the dirtiest/most predatory player of all time that is almost never talked about as being one. Even when his dirtiest, most dangerous plays are shown all the time.

If you look at it today, yes, but you can't blame him for playing that way when that was considered legal. You could argue that it shouldn't have been, but lots of players played that way.

He ruined Lindros’ career more or less. That hit was legal tho if I recall. The Kariya one was rough tho

The hits Trouba does now no one would bat an eye back then. Now it’s attempted murdah

Yeah but even that was illegal then. It was still interference.

Yeah, the pendulum always swings. Back then, looking at replays you can't believe what some players got away with. Now, clean hits are scrutinized like crazy.

Also had to suffer through Rick Jeanneret going to school in Albany. He is terrible and I can't for the life of me figure out why Sabres fans love him so much.
