Leafs have really cleaned up the 5v5 defense, but its interesting that they have a worse record this season despite that.
special teams I guess is not as strong.

Some weird/poopty play at 3v3. You probably take 3 or 4 of those OT losses and turn them into wins or ShootOut wins on a "normal" year.
*And look at that HDGA stat ....that's the biggest change for me. All of that began around week 2 of November. The first 3-4 weeks were the usual giveaways and high danger bullpoop (Holl, Rielly, Marner ...etc..) then it went from bad to excellent almost immediately.
Keefe deserves a medal if he can keep that stat in that direction.

good morning hb fam🥰
here me out👍🏿
greedy pencil neck to cbj for poon jenner +they’re first rounder 👍
cbj gets some offense👍🏿
we get some jam for an assured scf👍
IF (by circumstances totally beyond the control of the players, queeb, kylie or shanny) our laffs don’t win the cup, we still have a good shot at bedard and something to look forward to after glassthews bails to tempe 👍🏿
yeah I was just about to edit and ad that, more OT/SO/Coin flip game...losses also - senstroll
And, IIRC, I think the HDGA stat is probably influenced by our 'tenders being much better at stopping HDGA then Jack was. I think Jack's stats showed he was generally ok but then was poopty (like one of the worst) when it came to stopping HD chances? These guys have been much better.

Probably the closest thing to a "fair value" trade you've posted ...ever.
However, it's nonsensical b/c CLB would never trade their top pick this year and the Leafs aren't selling Nylander in the midst of a Cup run.

yeah I dont get the willie trade talk. maybe in the offseason, if things dont go so well again.
but id rather trade Rielly and his 7.5 to open up some space for willie.. I know that wont happen.

The improvement in the goal differential makes me happy.
Getting Liljegren back at the beginning of November was a big deal because it allowed Keefe to adjust the D pairs and put Holl with Brodie and later with Gio giving the Leafs pretty dependable big minutes.
The defensive commitment from the forwards and Sandin finding his mojo all seem pretty locked in elements of the team’s game at this point. The only iffy piece is goaltending and if the last two games suggest they’re working out of their funk, then good times are indeed ahead. (The preceding statements are jinx-proof.)

i’m not sure how to take this 🤔😭
female dog marner is the pencil neck to which i was referring to 🤦🏿♂️
i’m hoping that kylie FINALLY gets some game changers at the deadline instead of 1 or 2 fellers who will take the body to stay in the league

Depends how much the cap goes up.
Willies new contract will be 9- 10m along with increases to Am and mm.
Will morgans nmc, i think the leafs are stuck with him

Don't think anyone on the core is getting traded for a while, if ever.
Dubas likes chemistry, would completely go against his philosophy to see him trade willy right now. - Santo_44
Agreed.
Digressing to the non-Core components, Jarnkrok seems to be clicking with Snake and Mitch and Bunting has raised his game. I would have said a Top 6 LW was our top priority but I think we're back in a wait and see mode on that front?
Guessing the usual depth trade near the TDL is likely*.
* assuming no major injuries occur. Which, obviously, will definitely happen now that I've jinxed things...

Given where D contracts have gone to I am happy to be stuck with him

I like MR, and its nice to have players who play a long career with 1 team. But its tough to cut his time back and give it to other D who are starting to make up the gap in impact on the ice...cuz its MR and its been his team forever.
it also just felt like they played better as a team when he was out. that could be just how it looked when the Goalies were red hot. everyone looks better when that happens.

I think Dubas makes some big moves here.
TB did the McDonough trade, Hagel/Paul trades last year
COL did Manson, Lekhennen, pretty sure there was one more
Plenty of avenues to go with.
Not convinced they don't want to add on D either. Best players available for the best prices, go with that.

The only iffy piece is you. - Atomic Wedgie
It’s been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
Goaltending good for a longtime, then not good for a while, then good for last two games for two goalies who have a bit of a history = iffy and I’m the biggest goalie wife on here
It's possible they trade Kerf and parts for a proven Top 6 LW but I'm not entirely convinced they go big.
As for the D, I can see them adding some depth but, again, not seeing anything big.
Then again, there's a lot of time between now and the TDL for the winds to change. - mjones242
Chychrun is still there until he is not, I think Dubas is in there.
I think its an unlikely one but in terms of fit and contract its a good one. Gives a lot of breathing from in that last year of his contract when he's gotta re sign Willy and AM with JT still on the books.

They’ve got gobs of depth on D. What they’re missing from last year is their Muzzin. That’s the only kind of trade that makes sense to me and it would have to be someone good enough to actually make their rotation, not a Boosh or a Schenn.
I still think a top 6 forward is the big add. Jarnrok is nice there but it’s like he’s a good, responsible piece rather than another driver. Adding someone moves him to the third and presumably Engvall to the 4th.
I also wonder what they think they have in Knies and whether they see him playing at all this year. There’s very little runway but the reports from scouts from other teams have been off the charts.
