Im objecting both based on what I've seen from the new regime, but in this case mostly the seven mil.
Thats going to be his MV - Michael Ghofrani
We'll see, his value range is well established but we have no clue how aggressive he'll be. Dahlin played hard ball, Tage took the conservative approach. Big summer.

I think they'll just overpay him before they bridge. - Michael Ghofrani
On the overpay, so $56M for 7 seasons...? |
|
|
|
Because negotiating is all about what you can leverage. He can't ask for 12 for instance. Even if he believes he's that good. Who is going to pay him that right now?
He can bridge, but not at 7 mil. Teams rarely ever give bridge deals at market value. If they're giving up long term security of an asset, they expect something in return as well. - Michael Ghofrani
Cozens is trending toward 8 |

Yeah I could see them doing that before doing a bridge at 7 mil. |

If you go 8m, I think you're getting the 8th year.

Cozens and his agent may tell the Sabres that his market value is $8M per, which makes a $7M per bridge a below market number, especially with more expected improvement and greater production in the coming seasons. |

I feel like he'd be assuming a lot of risk. A 6 or 7 year deal still sets him up for another massive payday on top of the first one.

For the most part he has been terrible this year, but the one thing you can't say about him is that he is lazy. The guy busts it out there. - Slump Buster
busts it but does nothing with it. Its like looking busy without doing anything.
he has 4 goals on the PP and 1 short handed. so that leaves 2 goals 5v5 with 9 helpers 5v5.
That kinda sucks

A difference of one mil in market value is not going to lead to a bridge. They'll meet half way, or the Sabres will give in and just pay the 8.
They're not going settle on the bridge if thats the gap. The Sabres did it with Dahlin in part cause the metrics had everyone worried this could be a huge dud. Is anyone worried about that with Cozens? |

Maybe we should let Quinn and or JJ do a little stint in Rochester, give Kulich a look.
Top line
Kulich/Cozens/Oloffson
Asplund/Mitts/Hino
Jost/Krebs/Girgs
Rest okposo, JJ and Quinn a few games in Rochester to get their mojo back |

If the cap is 95 mil and he's still good? yeah absolutely. Huberdeau sucks and he got paid |

The gap here should mean a long term deal. 7x7 vs 8x8 should be easy to hammer out. If KA is at 6m, then we could have a problem. Fortunately, this is one place in the org where they have experience.

The bolded should be paired tg when both playing IMO. They have natural chemistry. |

if I am offering Dylan C a contract it is 8 years x 6.25 Million, Kadri is making 7, ROR is 7.25, Nylander 6.9, I get that DC is going to be good but he will be #2 center on this team and he is not better then all the above.
now with that said he will be 29 at the end of the contract and will absolutely be able to get another large contract if he stays on the pace he is at.

A pass off a defenders skate and in, a shot that tags josts stick and flubs in, catching a rebound flush for a back door tap in etc….
How he gets his production is very ugly too but it all still counts the same. |

They signed at different times with different cap ceilings. You gotta look at the %, not the AAV.
ROR's 7.5 mil for example was 10.5% of the cap. At an 83.5 mil cap, thats an AAV of around 8.7 million. |

I don't know why, but I just get the feeling that players are going to want to stay here for a little less money then on the open market.
I don't think Dylan is getting Tage Money.

I think Tage would be the first to tell you that he isn't getting Tage money right now. That contract and player are a total anomaly. |
