Pretty sure theres only been a half dozen or so Sabres forwards to hit 50+ points in the last decade.

Mitts is on that pace.
How is that worthless?

Let's upgrade 6 forwards without disturbing anything πŸ˜€

- Boss34

Boss really? have you seen him play, he loafs around every shift, He gets out worked and out muscled in the corners and along the boards all the time and he is a defensive liability. He has the worst +/- rating off all forwards on the team at -11. he sucks

he NEVER finishes a check EVER. I hope he does get to 50 so some other Dumb GM takes an interest in him so we can launch his a$$ off this team.

I watched him live yesterday and watched him get outworked every single time in puck battles, I watched him never finish a check, I watched him take a lazy penalty at the end of the 1st period that resulted in a quick PP goal for the Kraken and I even saw him trip over the center ice line all by himself.

I am sorry he sucks

The Mitts line was the Sabres best line yesterday. This notion that they are killing them needs to die soon

They were good yesterday, but the idea that it isn't dragging them down is a bit far fetched as well.

Mittelstadt has a sub 50 XGF% in 8 of his last 10 games. That line has had some stretches where they create but the stretches where they don't are always twice as long.

If Crowder can play vs Bengals (assuming we win against Skylar Thompson) I’d go with

Diggs
Davis
Beasley
Crowder
Shakir
Brown

McKenzie would be odd man out for me

McKenzie is not an every down player. Prob would keep him in lineup over Beasley though

why would we waive Fitzgerald and keep Clague and Lyubushkin ? They are both awful...and then we put them put there together...yikes!

WHAT?!

You mean the line that cost us the lead at the end of the first by taking a dumb penalty... or the line that produces strictly on the PP.. You could replace them with Quinn on the PP and you'd see the same results.

They need some players who show up at 5v5 and can play 200ft. Not just PP specialists. We have enough PP specialists.

This is a little disingenuous considering most of the team does

I looked last week, over the past 11 games (before these last two) the only guy over 50% was Skinner at 51%.

Mittelstadt had a higher xgf% than Krebs, Jost, Peterka, and Olofsson as far as the regular top 9 is concerned.

Asplund and Vinny were terrible last night and dragged down Cozens

Right now, until they get a top 6 guy, or Quinn/JJ turn it around, they should roll these 3 lines

Skinner/Tuch/Thomp
Mitts/Cozens/Olofsson
Girgs/Krebs/Okposo

Play the kids and Jost 8 minutes a night and Jost on some PK until the kids pick it up again

As of checking it right now, Mittelstadt and olofsson have the lowest XGF% at 5v5 of any of the regulars last 11 games.

I don't disagree with shuffling the lines, I think they should. But I would rather they play the young guys regularly and sprinkle some breaks in when they are overwhelmed. Thats whats best for their development Imo.

DJ smith talked about that re: Stutzle. You play them enough to help them learn and gain confidence, eventually they will flat out earn the spot.

WOW he had a higher xGF% than a rookie, a bottom line forward... Krebs... and his linemate who also sucks at hockey.

For the most part he has been terrible this year, but the one thing you can't say about him is that he is lazy. The guy busts it out there.

He could bust it even more if he got out and ran on his off days instead playing fortnite.

He should be playing like he did against Minnesota all the time.

Since Dec 8th (13 games)

Mitts - 45.49 xg%
Krebs - 44.87 xg%
Olofsson -39%
Jost - 42%

Mitts is more in line with the other two lines than he is his own linemates.

I get people hate him because of draft status, but he’s your average 3rd liner making 2.5 mil.

Not some 6 mil player rocking a 40% goal share

Well, sure - you could pick out any game where a player had a great game and say "they should play like that all of the time". If only it were that easy. Anyway, the point was about the guy's effort. His skating has improved some and that has helped his game. As others have said, he is what he is - a 3rd line player (at best).

I don't hate him (I hate the guy who took him but thats a whole other bit) and you know how I feel about Krebs, but we can't say this isn't an area that doesn't require an upgrade.

The guys has short bursts where he really looks good then disappears for a long stretch. Olofsson as well. Honestly I think they can't move forward with both of them. Pick one, then give that player different type of line mates.

Maybe they can get more out of mittelstadt if he has a two way winger who can chip in offensively.

Basically yes. He’s fine. Or has been fine lately relative to the rest of the bottom 9 forwards.

I’m all for upgrades. Start with upgrading the bottom 2-3 D men and flipping Olofsson

No apology neccessary.

Mitts had a tough night.

For the most part mitts hustles IMO
Coaches recognize his effort.
He's got pretty good skill level.

If he hits 50 points as a 3rd liner ,playing with olo and a different center every other game.
He plays with Tyson jost, a guy the Sabres picked off the scrap heap is his center.

Like I posted earlier, Sabres have only had a handful or so of forwards hit the 50 point mark in the last decade.
