I don't think so they still have 23 on the roster as Joker took Fitz's spot since he is on waivers so that washes.

Sabres have to make another move to get UPL on the roster if I'm not mistaken. Could also be why Hino and Asplund are dressed to showcase one of them.

This point probably isn't being talked about enough.

They have guys at the AHL level that they like. Seasoned guys like Malone, Biro and Murray in addition to young guys like Kulich and Rosen.

They should absolutely be exploring a trade of Asplund if there's a market

Sure if Johnson let's them know he isn't signing I would be up for trading his rights. But I would much rather keep and sign him. Kid has turned into a very good 2 way defenseman that plays both sides well.

Could/were likely planning on the other spot for UPL) They aren't really showcasing anyone, just have a combination of a roster spot mess and that line has been cold for a few weeks now.

This almost certainly would have been spotted on the central registry. At minimum capfriendly would have had something on it.
