That chart shows how much goal scoring he is doing above expected.
Surprised you are good with a chart that is based on expected statistics. - kingcong39
That chart purports to show how many goals are scored based upon how many shots he's taken unblocked 5 on 5. That is objectively countable as he has taken over 100 this year by now I am sure. Nothing expected. Expected and projected are different.

Who would you rather:
Jesus and Leon or Tage and Dahlin? - lacaprup
Can I wait until I see the numbers on a Dahlin extension?
But all seriousness, as homerish as that sounds, having the best player in the league is amazing but what kind of success have they really had? Dahlin is breaking out into the Norris trophy conversation and Thompson is breaking into the Hart conversation.
Having a forward in the Hart and a d-man in the Norris conversation is the winner for me.

he is, but part of the reason is that they are leaning so heavily on the top 2 lines. I wonder if he asks out if things don't improve. - Slump Buster
I'm about to say something that would had me committed to the insane asylum 2 years ago but here we go:
I wouldn't trade Tage straight up for McJesus. The contract situation is too good |

I don't think they waive him and frankly I wouldn't either.
Remember last season? 7 different starting goalies or something like that?
They don't know what they have in Comrie. He could be a dime a dozen goalie, or he could really push UPL to get the best out of him.
He stood on his head and stole a game in Edmonton to start the season, then the blue line fell apart and so did he. - Stripes77
Also, a little more context. In a way Comrie is like Ullmark in that he hadn't really put it all together and was a bit of an unknown. Ullmark showed flashes before breaking through this year. Ullmark is 29, Comrie is 27.

i can't imagine they would either.. Next season he will probably be splitting time in Buffalo with UPL while hopefully one or two of levi and portillo are in rochester and Anderson is on a beach with a Mai Tai |

just one though.. thats all he can handle..
if we were to make it to the playoffs i almost gotta think its UPL - SabresFaninIndiana
If they play Wednesday, friday, Saturday , tuesday , Thursday and Saturday.
Gotta think it's mostly upl.
Maybe they would give Anderson the start?
Why else have a guy like him, if your not gonna use him.
Been there, done that....
Comrie 🙄😀 |

Ullmark is also benefiting from a better defensive scheme in front of him.. |

Of course he is. The bigger point is that goalies often put it all together in their mid-to-late 20s. Whenever he has played a lot of games he has played well.

If we've learned anything over the last 3 years it is that you don't give up on prospects before you know what you've got. We have no idea what we have in Comrie. There are lots of reasons to think that he might be a good goalie. Everyone is looking for good goalies.
Look at it another way. If we don't find out about him now then we are going through the same process next year with another guy. And as we see throughout the league, just because a guy is good in one place doesn't mean he will be good in another. - Slump Buster
Some guys are grade A prospects, like 1st rounders.
Especially top 10 guys like mitts.
Comrie was drafted 9 years ago.
He's not really some kind of kid prospect
He was our 3rd choice , knowing we had a vet and a top goalie prospect in Rochester

I see the highlighted line is expected. I was not looking at that. It's nice that it's there and all but it's irrelevant to what we see on the ice and what the data, the objective data, says. Tage has one of the 5 best shots in the world. |

Goalies are rarely first rounders or "Grade A prospects". At some point they either get good or they don't. They are really like no other position in that it is impossible to predict. The best goalie in the history of the league was left exposed in an expansion draft.
He might actually be a tweener, I have no idea. Again, my point is that even if UPL is for real (a HUGE if, of course) you're going to need another guy this year (maybe) or next (definitely). He is here and played well in a small sample size before the injuries hit us.
Also.... what if UPL regresses? |

He is easily top 3 IMO. I have not seen a better shot form anyone this year other than maybe Pasta |

There's a better chance Comrie becomes a serviceable NHL goalie than Bryson or Fitzgerald become NHL dmen. Besides, the Sabres play every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for the rest of the month. Perfect time to roll 3 goalies, well 2.5 considering how often Anderson plays. |

How is it irrelevant, when it's used to convey the great shooting talent that is Tage? |

If you've been going to the games or watching them at all, you would not be suggesting upl not be the goalie right now.
