I wouldnt be too sure about "trying to win" , when dahlin was dangling around at #1.
Same goes for the ralph season. They waited long enough into the losing streak to fire him. Very tanky IMO - Boss34
we'll never agree but I disagree especially 20-21

That's not circumvention because he was available to 31 teams. This goes off the premise that he'd be unclaimed. - TheSabresTaco
Problem is that waivers don't take him off your roster, assigning him does. If he doesn't report, the league is not going to turn a blind eye.

Yeah I really don't mind it tbh. They push future earnings down the road in exchange for control over where they start their careers.
Considering how hard it is to make it, and other factors that play into call ups and ice time, it's a nice option for players to have. - Michael Ghofrani
It should be an all or none option, not an only NCAA rule. |

I'm not exactly sure how that works. I feel like I've seen cases where teams put guys on waivers and still assign them to the NHL teams (outside of TDL paper moves).
I could be wrong.
It's not common because you want guys to play regardless of the league they're in. But for Craig it could be a rare circumstance.
Anyway, expect UPL to be demoted in a day or two. |

I think Anderson will get all the "we should beat this team regardless of goaltending" games.
Philly, Chicago next week and then probably the Ducks on the 21st. - Michael Ghofrani
There's no way Andy is going to overlook the Flyers. He's a consummate professional. I'm saying 8 - 2 tonight. Maybe Torts has a fit on the bench.
Tage x3
Skinner
Cozens x2

It isn't an NCAA only rule. It's just a commonly held belief.

Scott Wheeler's 2023 NHL Prospect Pool Rankings are coming out, starting today, one team each day. Will be interesting to see where the Sabres end up this season. They were first last season, but 4 of the top 5 players from last year are ineligible this season.
To be eligible for inclusion, a skater must:
Be under 23 years old. We know that by the time a player turns 23, he is largely done with the steep upward progression we see in prospects and will begin to plateau.
Not be a full-time NHL player. This is the arbitrary section of the criteria. Here, I trust my judgment for whether or not a rostered NHL player is still likely to bounce between levels more than I trust any pre-determined games played before the cutoff. Preference for inclusion as an NHL prospect is more likely to be given to teenagers than 22-year-olds.
Either be signed to an NHL contract or selected in the entry draft, without the expiration of either of those rights. Players who are signed to AHL contracts are not considered.
To be eligible for inclusion, a goalie must:
Be under 25 years old. This age criteria is more reflective of the typical goalie trajectory, allowing for the continued consideration of goalies who are very much still prospects.
Not currently be established as one of their NHL club’s two go-to options. |

Is this option not technically available through every league? CHL players don't have to sign, they can go back into the draft or become free agents depending on age. Same with European draftees.
The reason you dont see it happen much in the CHL is because the first rounders typically get offered an ELC after their DY+1 and depending on their age, its not worth forgoing your ELC just to get redrafted at a lower number. And the lower end picks don't have a lot of options after they turn 20. As in, it doesn't make sense to turn down a guaranteed offer if you're a 6th rounder to bet everything on your DY+3 in juniors. Youd have to score like 130 pts to get serious consideration. |

Big game tonight standings wise. Sabres can gain 2pts on the Islanders and Penguins and still have atleast a game in hand on both. |

We're never gonna agree, but I felt it was important to respond. I disagree, still. 😉
Hiring ralph reminds me of the dolphins coach interview where they asked if he was ok losing to pick early.
Hey ralph, dahlin is young and we aren't gonna win with him until he's 22 or so.
How about take 7 million to ruin him, skinner and everyone else that could lead to winning.... |

Most, not the Russians and probably some other smaller leagues.
I don't know who Viljami Marjala is, but if the Sabres loose his rights this summer, will anyone even notice?

I remember 05/06, my buddies and I used to go up to ticket sales 30 minutes before puck drop and then later in the season you couldn't get tickets.

Might be murky waters for a bit, but the minute you want him to play a game, you'd run into problems....I think.

I forget sometimes there's more coming in that trade. If the season ended today, for that 2nd, we'd pick like 39th or 40th...which is basically a 1st I'm told.

I was hoping for 6.5x5 and make everyone happy for a few years, plus give Cozens a chance for another large contract. - ImThatGuy
