Gave Davis has been fine
No, he’s not an “elite” #2
But if anyone thought he was going to be-
then that’s their fault for having unrealistic expectations - jdfitz77
Has he met your expectations for the season?

I am going to say no
But I will say the fantasy football gurus are sort of to blame. They overhyped him off 1 game vs the chiefs then took into consideration sanders and Beasley gone. So more targets for him |

For the most part
800yds & 7td is pretty solid
Bills didn’t target him enough imo,
but that’s not on him
Our OC does pretty much nothing to scheme guys open
And when teams play a cover 2 (or 3 deep) zone against us, he’s just not gonna get the ball deep
Opposing defenses have made an obvious effort to take away the deep pass
Allen has been one of the worst QBs in the league against the zone
Our OC hasn’t done a god job making it easier on Allen or the pass catchers
2 or 3 drops a game isn’t what’s killing our offense |

“With Tagovailoa recovering from at least his second concussion of the season and Bridgewater unable to throw for distances longer than about 15 yards throughout the last week, Thompson could very well be in line to make his third career start in a playoff game against a Super Bowl contender.“
Heads of Fish don’t have to say it publicly, as long as this week they treat Tua as someone recovering from 3 concussions in less than one season. - Ratsreign
I don’t trust the reports until they say he is actually out.
If we play skyler Thompson on Saturday or Sunday. I’ll be happy

200 Yards and 4TD's in a playoff game doesn't make you think he's going to be elite? It wasn't just the eye popping stats either, he was twisting defenders into pretzels. So wide open there wasn't a defender on the screen. He continued to do it all through training camp, preseason and first quarter of the season. Not sure why he's having such an issue concentrating lately. Catching and sideline awareness.
We'll see if it was wishful thinking or I was right about the offense holding back and just going to boat race teams in the playoffs because they might need to be firing on all cylinders to squish the fish. Gabe needs to be a big part of that.

Goaltending hasn’t been an issue for weeks.
The Sabres goaltending have saved 7.5 goals above expected this year which ranks 12th in the league (would be even higher if Comrie didn’t give up 5 more goals than expected)
The Sabres issue is they don’t defend well at all, and it’s more than just the d-corps.
Luckily enough, they are on pace to be the second highest scoring team this century and it may not matter. - Swedish_Jesus
9 goals allowed in the past two games says otherwise. |

Correct,
ONE GAME is not nearly enough to make me think ANY player will be “elite”

I talk about “sample size” often on here for a reason
Again, ONE GAME wasn’t enough to make me to jump to that high of a conclusion on him

The best part about all of this is how Sbroads goes after Gabe Davis (which I agree with) yet defends Mittelstadt yet they both dance to the same tune - Swedish_Jesus
Everyone thought davis was going to be good.
The kc playoff game put huge expectations on gabe.
Lots of drops , down season
Mitts has been kinda crappy for the majority of his career.
Mitts is on pace for 50 points, had 3 primary assists after struggling this season.
Playing well , feels above expectations

That’s the point I’m trying to make, if you look at the box score, or in Casey’s instance his point totals, you can come away thinking ok these numbers aren’t bad.
Look at the underlyings (or otherwise what’s underneath the hood) and all of a sudden you’re up to your eyeballs in crap |

The rest were defensive breakdowns.

Also, I don't think scheming receivers open is the issue. Allen's been skittish and out of time. Those picks spooked him. He's been throwing off his back foot all the time lately. Last year he would've drilled the ball through Davis's chest on the one pass to the end zone that he sailed over his head. IIRC, that was a skinny post that he completed in his sleep last year.
No clue why Davis doesn't concentrate and catch the 2nd deep one. Made himself look bad. Could've got in on the fun. |

He allowed 29 goals for a 3.22 gaa which is well over the league wide average of 2.95.
Sabres also scored 4.88 goals per game in that stretch. That would be a 401 goal pace which has happened five times in league history, all by the same team, and not since 1986. Ok, allowing for the Flames and Bruins who would've done it in 82 games that takes us to 1988.
He's had some good games in there, no doubt, but goaltending is the numbers 1-437 priority right now.
Anderson has been good, but he can only play once a week, and the Sabres have to play a sh¡tload of games in a short period of time. |
