I believe people from the forum have taken over for other teams before. Any volunteers?

Even just as a guest blogger to get us back on the main page.

I did a guest blog once a couple of years back when there was no assigned writer. Would be fine doing something similar, but I've sent off multiple messages about this to any number of HB contacts without any response or feedback.

Sign me up.

5 contributors on a rotating basis would add some spice to the blogs with different views and writing styles. Maybe collaborate on some posts as well.

Seems like a better solution than just letting it die.

I think a lot of people including myself, would be more than ok as you as the new blogger. Great posts and backing points for opinions.

Wow Murray is so soft and such a head case. He was looking for any reason not to play tonight and found it.

Zaitsev with an awful penalty to get the Leaves even at 2 to 2. But then the Sens looked really good from that point on. Forsberg looked solid and Brady was so strong on the forecheck.

That is what is frustrating about this team. You can see it, just not every game.

Always great to beat the Leafs and Habs. Greig definitely exceeding expectations.

Greig has been a nice shot of adrenaline for Giroux and the Cat. I thought both games were better but it was some of the people we are always complaining about that were better. Branny was better. Holden was better. Zaitsev still plays hot-potato with the puck but didn't find himself in too many dangerous situations. Another win against Montreal tonight so that draft pick next year can just be a tad worse.

Totally agree, it's a lot for any one person, but a group effort would be an interesting approach. After not hearing back from anyone at HB, I got ahold of the Leafs Moderator (because I know how active he is) and he kindly forwarded my message about the issue on to 'someone' at HB who might respond. So we'll see what comes of it.

Nice work.
Fingers crossed.

I don't mind being the "hub" person. In other words asking for a submission from different person each week, giving it a quick read for grammar and then presenting it.

Nice initiative. Hadn’t thought about a moderator working some phones. Let’s hope something gets in place.

Giroux first start of the week. While the season has not been overwhelmingly positive on the ice, Giroux’s contributions have been basically what everyone wanted. Free agent signings can sometimes be a bust, but he really looks like a good one so far.

Horvat traded from the Canucks to the Islanders for Beauvillier, Raty, and a protected 1st-2023.

It's a semi-decent return for the Canucks (though Beauvillier is only signed for the next 1.5yrs), but it's complete idiocy that they managed to get trapped into a 7yr NMC long-term deal for Miller that won't even start until he's 30, versus keeping their 27yo captain.

Beauvillier is crap, just a cap dump, he is a 3rd/4th liner at best, if Bo walks, this is a win for Van, if he stays in NYI, NYI wins

Nice win last night.
But is anyone having a groundhog day moment? Hasn't this exact pattern happened the last couple years? They're already way off a play off pace, they go on a little run of wins---the all-star game happens--and them come back and poop the bed the rest of the season.

I like Greig. He's added some spice but his bigger impact is keeping the fourth line off the ice. I don't know the numbers but I'm not seeing much of Watson and Kelly.

Put a guest blog together and submit it to [email protected]. I can format it to look better on hockeybuzz (headers, etc) if you first send a rough copy to [email protected].

A rotation sounds great as well!

Cheers!

Greig has stepped in pretty seamlessly, which doesn't surprise me. He's always had a strong defensive game, which is one of the biggest factors in AHL players transitioning to the NHL. I think he joins Pinto as another two-way 35pts-45pts middle-six forward, who can move up and down the lineup as needed. And don't misinterpret the value I would associate with those players, because I actually think the forward lines in their ideal state should resemble something like:

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Joseph
DeBrincat-Pinto-Giroux
Greig-Norris-Batherson

Nobody disputes that PP success this group has demonstrated, but the attempt to overload scoring lines at 5-on-5 just isn't working. Personally, I think they would do much better to distribute pairs of high-end talent across 3 lines, and overwhelm teams at 5-on-5 by having 3 strong lines that could effectively match up against anyone.

Many thanks for your help, Trevor - I'll put something together as a first guest blog, and we'll set up some kind of rotation as it sounds like there was a good amount of interest.

Be sure to run it by Eric first as I have zero decision-making power on here.

Team is starting to string some wins together. We could always see a return to form of another losing streak, but its starting to look possible the team ends where many thought, fighting for a playoff spot but ultimately missing out.
