I don’t like this challenge as far as Canada winning it.

We will see but Mike Johnson is wrong just because you have the puck on your stick you aren’t allowed to prevent the goalie from making a save. 🙄

I see this play still being debated on other sites today and I was wishy-washy at first, but I truly believe it was the right call.

This is the play to make it easy: https://www.sportsnet.ca/...ference-call-against-u-s/

Blake goes into the blue ice on his own in pursuit of the shot puck - which Milic has saved and it is rebounded out of the crease. Blake doesn't make any direct effort to leave the blue paint - but yes he is lightly bumped by the defender, Zellweger. This is really the only questionable part. Milic attempts to slide to his left and bounces off of Blake's hip - that prevents his lateral motion to the left and leaves the post open. Whether he could have or would have made it there and kept his pad flat is an unknown, but it doesn't change the fact that his lateral motion was interrupted by the US player who had positioned himself illegally in the blue paint - Blake was in possession of the puck, but the puck wasn't in the crease with him. There are nuances in the IIHF rules which vary from NHL rules, but this specific aspect would be consistent among both organizations.

Did Zellweger's light bump stop Blake from leaving the crease and playing the puck legally? Did that bump cause Blake to bump into Milic? Honestly, I don't think so, and I don't think so - and in the opinion of the refs reviewing that play, they didn't either.

So Matthew Tkachuk gets $9.5m after a 42 goal, 104pt season. He is currently pacing 46g/108pts.

Nylander is having his best year to date and is pacing a 47 goal / 97 point season.

Jordan Kyrou gets $8.125 after posting a little better than a ppg - which until this year was something Willy has never done (last year he was one point shy). Willy is a year older than Kyrou.

Mikko Rantanen makes $9.25 after exceeding a ppg 4 times prior to this season (where is pacing the same as Tkachuk).

So why would Willy get north of $10m when other players who have produced better and with more consistency aren't?

I don't know how much agents talk about percentage of cap in these negotiations, but with the cap going up that could mean Willy's number gets to 10 because he will want the percentage of cap that comparables received.

Also he will be a Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe winner by that time. But maybe he takes a haircut because he wants to win multiple Cups in TO.

Not just who but when. If escrow is fully paid back and there’s a nice jump in the cap by the time he hits free agency, and Willie has a nice postseason, something close to $10 is not out of the question. (Even if Dubas and his agent factor in that kind of cap, they could swing an extension.)

I'm not saying you're wrong here, but at least they are consistent in their reporting.

The same people are also claiming Matthews is looking for 15M per season.

Is Nylander worth 6M less than Auston Matthews? Probably not.

Therefore, he's worth 10M!

I’d heard Dubas won’t be extended unless they make a significant playoff push. Heard Treliving may be taking over.
