Fun fact:

The tradition of giving watches to amateur athletes was so they could then sell them (often back to the event organizers) and still keep their amateur status.

Do those Tissot’s take good pics?

Oh buddy.

Sending good thoughts your way.

My dad is almost 88, and he only had a day or so when he felt poopy.

Hoping your kids get well soon.

Is it your first time?

My parents just got it within the last week. My mom got it first and she’s 72 and was a waitress for 30 years. She never smoked but has terrible lungs from second hand smoke for all those years. We were worried about her but she’s on the upswing now. My dad is 74 and a little on the overweight side and tested positive yesterday. Hoping they’ll be ok. They were both in good health prior to Covid but with age and lockdowns they’ve seemed to age quite a bit.

I had it back in June, age 69 in ok health with all my shots and it wasn’t really all that bad. I felt weak for a while afterwards (maybe 10 days) but nothing serious. I haven’t smoked in 10-12 years and don’t drink but some people just get hit harder. Obviously, getting your shots is key. We’re being advised every six months if you’re over 65.

Gawd, I miss that place.

What do I miss most?

When you would pop out of the subway, and as you emerged onto Carlton Street, you could just feel the energy.

It’s just not the same at the ACC
.

This is 100% accurate. The closest you get to that old feeling is right outside the ACC post game after a win or pre-game for a playoff game but even then it's not the same.

I'm trying to get together a team to play in a mens league tourney in May at the Old Maple Leafs Gardens because I just want to play there. lol

I have been lucky enough to play on the ACC ice twice now, it was cool but holy hell is it warm in there on the ice. Pretty sure they crank down the refrigeration system when the Leafs aren't there because it was hot as hell and the ice was terrible.

My kid played there last year in a league. He enjoyed it but said the parking was a huge drag

Mattamy Arena (old Maple Leaf Gardens) is the warmest arena in Toronto. Nothing else even comes close.

When I would coach there, I would wear a long sleeve t-shirt.

Park underneath.

Then buy $25 worth of stuff from Loblaws or LCBO, and they validate 1.5 hours of parking.

Well then I'm sure I'm going to sweat a tonne.....

That makes it the absolute best weight loss program ever!

(Only to be negated with the multiple ice cold beers post game).
