Passing to the opponent is the key to being average

Why is Nelson passing so (frank)in much? Usually he’s the one who shoots.

He’s happy with his current goal total. Looking to increase his assists

This team is incredibly hard to watch most of the time. Just mail it in more often then not lately.

Said a few weeks ago we’ll know by the end of this month whether we’re making the playoffs or not. Still believe that. Can’t show up one out of every three games and expect to compete in this division. Incredibly maddening to watch their lack of urgency on this consistent of a basis.

Congratulations to Nelson for his first All Star appearance. The division line-ups make you wonder.

A vet team that is comfortable and knows not a lot of moves can and will be made. The Country Club is not completely gone.

You know what it is Cpt. A stale roster badly in need of a shakeup that cannot happen. Also one offseason move was obviously not enough.

Yeah I don’t think that was Lameriello’s plan. I believe he was unable to get anything done for multiple reasons that we’ve gone over in here enough times. Frustrating to be in this middling purgatory once again with this team though.

Lou added some of these contracts though. He could not even move Cal at the deadline when he should have. If the goal is winning a Cup, it's been a strange way to go about it. Team is just not balanced enough and they rely so much on Sorokin.

I think they are balanced the problem may be they are not that good.

Usual suspects doing little to nothing out there. Always waiting for them to do something. Definition of insanity…

I just wish they would go hard in one direction or the other. This is a deep draft. Lameriello has to make a decision with the direction of this team in the not too distant future.

Not getting past Tampa one of those series could really hurt this team for a long time. They really needed to go all in or go the other way. It is very difficult to stay in the middle.

That series is done. Time to move on my friend

We were close. Whatever magic we had those two years seems to be gone. This team not showing up for games consistently is undeniable. Is that the personnel or coaching or possibly both? That’s what Lameriello needs to decide soon. Dwelling on this teams past success is incredibly counter productive to the current teams success. I will say this, last seasons lack of success is looking more like that’s who this team is and less of an aberration due to Covid or a long road trip. Those excuses look more dumb every game I watch.

That series is done but it may have given Lou a false sense of the team and that hurts the current team. The players should be ready to play regardless but it does not help when management or coaching does not have a sense of urgency as well. Sadly, it is looking like last season was not aberration.

Maybe not the best choice of words for Lambert but I guess what else can the guy say? The silver lining is he is at least acknowledging there’s a problem. I guess.

Yep! The word choice was not the best. Might have to start sitting some vets again beyond Bailey.

I’m leaning more and more towards just dumping whatever we can between the TDL and the draft. We have some good players under contract with term. We have a good defense and elite goaltending. I assume Ledecky and Malkin would have to be sold on this idea. Try to get into the top 5 of the draft. Target and actually succeed in signing a free agent or god forbid even two. The problem is players like Bailey and clutterbuck who have that extra year. Zero teams are taking anyone with any term at the TDL. Kind of painted ourselves in a corner again with that…

I’m more or less suggesting a mini rebuild. The problem is I don’t think it’s ever worked for any team

I think it's going to come down to moving what you can as I cannot see this team being able to go on another run. This is just not the same exact team as those two long playoff runs. Leddy and Toews had issues but they were both able to skate the puck out of trouble and that was huge. Some of the players on the current team being a few years younger also helped. Ledecky and Malkin need to think about bringing Lou back or replacing him. Bailey is Garth's signing. Cal and Martin on Lou. the Palms signing is not looking good as well. Islanders are in a tough spot with these contracts. These long term contract just kill movement and hurt the sport.

It’s even more tiring when you see the game against Pitt last week. The 2nd period the other night. The game vs the Canes early in the season. The comebacks, etc.

Pelech being out hurts a ton, you can’t sugarcoat that, but it’s maddening to see them play the way they seemingly can at times and then see them play like they’re watching the games themselves.

I mean, what’s the definition of insanity? Haven’t these guys figured out yet passing the puck 7 or 8 times around the zone doesn’t work? That the puck that dribbles over the goal line counts the same as a tic-tac-toe passing play or a 100mph laser?

I think they will be riding the bubble all the way to the end of the season.
