You said that to someone just last week. You shouldn't be repeating yourself here - we got it the first time.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, are you saying he sucked so he wasn’t much of a prospect or he had NHL experience so he wasn’t still much of a prospect?

6. Tage Thompson

Last season stats (with University of Connecticut): 34 GP, 19 G, 13 A, 32 P, 24 PIM. University of Connecticut, NCAA.

Last season stats (with Chicago Wolves): 16 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 2 P, 2 PIM. Playoffs: 10 GP, 2 G, 1 A, 3 P, 4 PIM.

A first round pick just last year, Thompson’s development has been… slow, to say the least. I get that not everybody is going to be over a point-per-game in college (but they guy behind Thompson is) but Thompson’s AHL play also leaves a lot to be desired. 16 games played and just 2 points is a whole lot of “meh”.

Again, this is not to say that Thompson is a bad prospect yet. It’s just that the St. Louis Blues expect (and rightfully so) more out of Tage. They’ll look to get that this year, as it’s likely Thompson plays most of the year with AHL affiliates Chicago Wolves and/or San Antonio Stampede.

Well, both. He was a typical late-round draft pick. If he had put up numbers when he was younger he would have been at the top of his class given his freak athletic abilities. Again, I am not bagging on him. The bigger context was giving Botts credit for getting him in the trade.
- Slump Buster

Which imo he should get some at the very least.

Also, in terms of Thompson as a prospect, he was great for the US in the world juniors his draft year +1. Scored some highlight reel goals

I don’t agree that he wasn’t much of a prospect a year later

I think it’s much more likely that Tage was a target in some way than him having no idea who Tage was and this being just some random luck that it worked out.

People on here and mostly on Sabres Twitter have been doing some mental gymnastics to avoid admitting that Botterill wasn’t all that terrible.

- sbroads24

Tage according to Armstrong was Botts target, Armstrong came out and said if almost fell apart the morning of the trade because Botts held fast on Tage and picks.

Botts had a better deal with Arizona, but they didn't want to pay the bonus. Montreal was there to. Montreal ended up trading for Domi.

Not sure who I would even want for. Arizona.

Keller and chyrun. But why would they want chyrun? They passed on him in the draft.

Yeah, the Krueger hire is god awful and a solid reason for Botterill to be fired, however, the owners (who I blame a lot of the JB era on) then got conned by Krueger and it took a 18 game losing streak for that fraud to be fired by Adams.

I like a lot of what Adams has done organizationally. But his job has been so easy so far it’s not even funny.

Botterill was in a tough spot when he got hired

Edit- the Housley hire was completely obvious at the time and thought of as a good move

Having to Trade a “superstar” that was seriously injured and the robin to this “superstar” that hated to sign autografts is so easy its not even funny?

Yes, I think dumping players for the best return possible is probably one of the easier parts of that job.

Adams has had no issues being up against the cap, no playoff expectations, no expectations to sign big name UFA’s, outside of Tuch he’s acquired no top end players.

What exactly has been difficult about the job he’s done so far?
