we are currently female doging about how our D isnt good enough WITH Power.. imagine if we didn't have him.

granted we female dog about center depth so it would just be switching the female doging...

that being said i think D was the better way to go with that pick based upon our depth chart

- SabresFaninIndiana

We still have not seen a healthy D core for any length of time. I don't know how all of these strong opinions can possibly be had on guys playing out of position and over their head every night. To me, I know Dahlin and Sammy are long term NHL defensemen at the top pair. Joker is certainly NHL d caliber and a fine 2 pair IMO. Power is a promising rookie and I will say no more about him.

All these other guys are always playing out of position because of injuries to Joker, Sammy, Power and Boosh. Sammy and Boosh are hurt a lot.

I'd really like to be able to look at Fitz, Pilut, Bryson, Clague playing bottom pair minutes in situations appropriate to their ability. Circumstance has not allowed that much if at all.

Lol what.

I’m all in here.

Give me even 20 players who are better right now.

Power leads the team in on ice goals for. Over Dahlin and Thompson.

He’s been nothing short of remarkable at generating offense.

He’s also been very unlucky on the scoresheet

Guys I’d definitely take over Power today

Dahlin
Fox
Makar
Hedman (who’s having an off year)
Heiskanen
Morrissey
Karlsson
Slavin
Seider
Hamilton
McAvoy
Toews
Ekblad
Josi
Pietrangelo
Hughes

I think that’s it for definite

Guys like

Carlson
Rielly
Letang
Spurgeon are all close but their play has dropped off

Dahlin is fantastic and maybe the Norris front runner this year and I’m
Not 100% sure Power won’t be the better overall player in 2 years

- sbroads24

A few episodes ago, Craig Rivet on the After the Whistle podcast said that he thinks Power is the Norris winner in 3 to 4 years. Compared him to Hedman.

if we're talking "today" I'm not putting Hedman on that list. Nor Hughes. Definitely not Seider.

Eh. I think when guys get older on a perennial playoff team like Hedman, they don’t put 100% energy into the regular season and it makes them look worse then they are. I think if the playoffs were starting today and I needed a guy for one series I’m easily still taking Hedman

Yeah he’s having a bad year, which I stated directly on the list. He was also bad two years ago and then was a monster during their cup run

I think so. He was very bad defensively all season and was a monster during the postseason

He could very well be washed now. I’m not betting on it yet

He's a great player and has totally collapsed this season. He had an amazing season last year. So while I'm not betting on him being totally washed (yet), I am taking Power this year over Hedman. 100%.

He's been a top 3 Norris selection 6 years running. I do think all the playoff miles are starting to collect up on Tampa. Their whole team seems to be mildly slowing down.

And it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they collectively turn it on come playoff time.

When you’re routinely playing big games in April/May the 82 game schedule probably gets pretty boring year after year

If Tage hadn't gone full super soldier, how would the Power pick be looked at?

It sure helps, a ton, what Tage has turned into.

Hell, they still took 3 Centers in the first round last draft.

Are you talking pre 38 goal season last year? Because we drafted him before we knew Thompson was great and most sane people were fine with taking the consensus #1 pick

Is he washed or are those numbers reflective of the putrid tank team that he's on?

Some interesting stats about the Hawks (and others - the Sabres stuff is really good) from Dom Luszczyszyn. Spoiler, they're one of the worst teams ever assembled with Jack Johnson leading the tankathon.

https://theathletic.com/4...ers-devils-rasmus-sandin/

So maybe Kane has lost his love for the game? Regardless I hope we don't do something stupid and sign him to a 4 year deal this summer.

So by that logic, teams wouldn't want to play for the Devil's either? This way of thinking just feels so.... Buffalo.
- Slump Buster

Yeah, definitely guys would be a little skeptical about a hot start.

And NJ doesn't have the all time playoff non streak
And arnt 2 games over fake .500
