pretty sure he will look for security as well

he may or may not get it on the open market, but he won't know for sure if he does not hit the market this summer

- deadpoulet

like I said, he could be looking for a 5+ year deal but I just don't see it happening, he doesn't really have any leverage right now. his agent probably has a good idea of what would be a potentially reasonable contract.

The old theory of you cannot win them all nor can you lose them all But in a 3 game series you will win one lose one and it is the third game of that that makes you a winner of a loser win two of three and you are a winner lose 2 of three and you are a loser It happens in all sports Mont falls into the loser category

He still have to hit the market to make sure.

Unless the we can't talk to other teams untill we are supposed to is bullpoop.

Maybe he would sign in mtl if it's a good offer, but I think it would at least take 3-4 years to get it done.

yeah I see that as the maximum he'll get in terms of contract length, not the minimum. I don't get why any GM would give him 5+ years, but we'll see.

maybe, but imho it wouldn't be very realistic for him to aim for such a contract right now, he's barely played during the past few years, and his injury history doesn't make it very enticing for other GMs to invest in him long-term...
- Pat1993

he can ask for what ever he wants, that doesn't matter.
the important thing is what GMs will be ready to give him. it only takes one.

yes, I'm aware lol, and like I said I think it's unlikely Monahan gets a 5+ year deal. that's just my opinion.

if I was him I'd sign short term, 1 or 2 years, waiting for the cap to go up. then again, maybe he'll prefer a longer deal right away.
I don't care much since chances are it won't be in Mtl.

according to who? I wouldn't necessarily bet a whole bunch of money on it but I'm pretty sure Hughes is considering it, especially if he finds the offers for Monahan on the trade market are too low.

true but any gm signing monohan for longer than one year should be fired on the spot. given his injury history a contract longer than that is just plain stupid.

there's not a day passing by they don't say they got Dack to play center. maybe not now but eventually. why would they sign Monahan?!?
unless they're not telling us the truth. I cannot believe I wrote that. they ALWAYS tell the truth!!
