I was working in France when they won it in 98.
Our office was right next door to FIFA where the French team stop
what a party that was

Arrived in Paris the day after they won in 2018.

I missed the party, but got to see the vandalism.

that's a first for me

NED has a player lying on the ground behind the wall for Argentina free kick

- dmnted

I've seen this a few times in this world cup - seems to be a new tactic a lot of teams are employing, cant' say I've ever seen it do anything but maybe it has/does or removes some of the confidence of a 'I'll blast it though the wall low when they all jump" from the guy taking the kick?

That’s nothing like the Engvall play. That’s much more premeditated. Engvall gets a couple.

I don’t think the hit on Robertson was as bad as it’s being made out. It wasn’t a classical slew foot. Most of the leverage came from Roy’s shoulder.

Agree that the Brashear play wasn't even remotely close to the Engvall play. The hit on Robertson was really dirty. Roy was gassed and he pitchforked the kid into the boards. Just speculating of course but IMO, If Simmonds does that its 10 games at least

St Clair when Italy won was insane

And a river of tears that met another river of tears up in Woo-bridge when they didn't qualify for this WC! I'm surprised there were no lives or property lost from that raging river of tears! lol

You guys really think it’s team related and that political? I take a more simplistic approach more because it’s much safer as far as the NHL is concerned. I think DOPS just franks up every now and then.
- Woderwick

To be honest I think you are mostly right but I also believe there is an undercurrent when it comes to the Leafs of the league going a bit more heavily so as to avoid "the your treating your kid differently and giving him more ice time because your the coach" type of accusations.

Everyone vs Toronto!

I was in Buenos Aries once and the two local teams were playing. The fans of those teams hate each other way more than Argentina hates any other country. The city was empty until the second the game ended.

It was one of the craziest places I ever visited. Huge beef eaters

I'm gong to re-watch it but my initial thoughts when I saw it a few times was that it was classic interference and Robertson is just a lot smaller than Roy (and weaker) and the big guy manhandled the small guy a bit and he fell awkwardly more than anything.

It sucks but it happens.

My only issue with last night's game is NO ONE doing sh!t about the kid getting run into the boards. Like him or not, 4th or 2nd line player... the league just took notice.
Some may argue and say well they were getting a PP? okay okoay....
Immediately after it happened or right after the PP someone should have taken a skate off and cut someone. IMO

That was franking embarrassing.

Isn't he supposed to be the best player in the game right now?

And he goes down like that?

Franking embarrassing.

I don't often disagree with Wedgie, but to say the Engvall hit was absolutely intentional and there was no intent to injure by Roy, is difficult to understand. Even if he was being coached by Kreskin.

About 25 years ago, I went to a Millwall game on a Saturday afternoon.

There wasn't a single store open - they were all locked, boarded up, metal fences protecting the windows and doors.

The stadium itself was a beauty - to get in, you had to go through a very, very narrow cinderblock hallway to show your ticket.

The fans were...interesting.

And by "interesting", I mean "inebriated and terrifying."
